Out of the knights, I knew the least about Monty Python, so I had a lot of catching up to do. I was building the plane as I was flying it, but they were so gracious in helping me learn about the style of comedy that it is.

Review: THE BOOK OF WILL at Torrance Theatre Company
by Shari Barrett - Apr 9, 2026

With a cast of ten actors portraying more than 26 characters, it was bold choice for the intimate theater. But thanks to Perloff’s direction and choice of actors, anyone with the slightest interest in Shakespeare will find the play and its characters captivating.

Review: ANTONÍN DVOŘÁK’S NEW WORLD SYMPHONY at Knight Theater
by Perry Tannenbaum - Apr 1, 2026

When Charlotte Symphony announced their 2025-26 schedule last March, they couldn’t have predicted the serendipity of two recent concerts a year later. Three subsequent events had to align. Houston Grand Opera’s world premiere recording of Jake Heggie’s Intelligence had to be released in August, and the recording, conducted by Charlotte Symphony music director Kwamé Ryan and starring soprano Janai Brugger, had to be nominated for a Grammy Award.

Interview: Crystal Kellogg of & JULIET at Proctors
by Jared West - Mar 30, 2026

Forget the balcony. Forget the poison. What if Juliet just decided to live her best life? That's the premise of & JULIET, the infectiously fun jukebox musical packed with pop anthems that's taking audiences by storm on its global tour. I sat down with the entertaining and lovely Crystal Kellogg, who is playing Shakespeare’s wife Anne Hathaway on the road, to talk tour life, empowerment, and why this is the glow-up Shakespeare never knew his heroine needed.

Review: CANDLELIGHT®: THE BEST OF HANS ZIMMER at Grace Presbyterian Church
by Amanda Barnum - Mar 22, 2026

The Candlelight® concert series is a special treat for music lovers of all ages and varying music tastes. The concert took place in an ecclesiological Gothic Revival style church built in 1911 - 1912 with a behemoth organ at its centre. The architectural grandeur of the vast sanctuary enhances the natural acoustics of the string quartet, the vaulted ceilings allowing for longer reverberation times. With thousands of candles delicately placed throughout the space, the ambience was surreal as night fell upon us.

Review: THE BEEKEEPER OF ALEPPO, Richmond Theatre
by Aliya Al-Hassan - Mar 11, 2026

Christy Lefteri’s 2019 bestseller The Beekeeper of Aleppo is both a powerful and poetic story about the refugee experience. Her story of Nuri and his wife Afra's escape from Syria to England was inspired by time Lefteri spent working in a refugee camp in Athens. Syria may currently be seen as less newsworthy than it was, but the issue of people displaced from their homes and seeking safety elsewhere has rarely been more discussed. So why does this important and emotional story feel flat on stage?
