An audience of eight checks in outside The Duplex in Greenwich Village.  On a gorgeous Friday evening, there were people all around drinking outside bars at tables and dancing to disco tunes in Christopher Park.  Waiting for the show to begin, turn in any direction and there are visuals and sounds setting the mood.  Voyeur: The Windows of Toulouse-Latrec conjures up Paris circa 1899 in the bohemian nightclub vista of Montmartre.

Edinburgh's City Art Centre is to re-open its doors to the public on Saturday 12th September 2020 with a full range of new safety measures in place to ensure the safety of visitors and staff. The gallery reopens with two new exhibitions, City Art Centre at 40: Highlights from the City's Art Collection marking the City Art Centre's 40th anniversary and Bright Shadows: Scottish Art in the 1920s.

But one of the more popular forms of media to be adapted in the past few years has been the world of cinema.

The last time I attended a production at Osceola Arts, the stage had been transformed into 1899 New York City for a production of Newsies. Last night, I returned to Osceola Arts, but now found myself transported thirty-two years later and over four thousand miles eastward to Germany, specifically the Kit Kat Klub of Berlin as immortalized in the 1966 musical CABARET. Although we're now ninety years removed from the Weimar Republic, CABARET still feels timely as ever. Given what regime succeeded the Weimar Republic, maybe that should not be good news. Yet that is why we need shows like CABARET: reminders that the apathy and distractions we think help us get by should actually not be our only outlet for life and livelihood. The Kit Kat Klub becomes less a physical place than it does a state of mind, one that comments upon the action of the musical, but does so without the repercussions and consequences of the narrative, at least until the bitter end.

Tom Stoppard's latest - and possibly final - play has few of the dramatic hallmarks you might expect from him: the dazzling linguistic flourishes, the formal trickery, the knotty metaphors and giddy metatheatricality. Instead, we have a relatively straightforward, linear piece, initially overburdened by information, but with an immense accumulative power that leaves audiences awed and tearful.

a?oeVoices of Change,a?? an inspiring production featuring original choreography and live music, will be performed by the young talents of National Dance Institute's (NDI) Celebration Team on their third visit to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) on Sunday, March 8. The event takes place at 4 p.m. in NJPAC's Victoria Theater.

A strong cast presents an excellent Unicorn production of a very new play, Bernhardt/Hamlet, A Woman Unbounda by Theresa Rebeck. Bernhardt/Hamlet is a smart, comedic, reasonably accurate portrait of a middle-aged, financially strapped, giant of the nineteenth century French stage still with her powers intact, but with a paucity of mountains she still desires to climb.

This summer, take a break from the hustle and bustle and journey to the lakes region of Central Maine to experience Theater at Monmouth's (R)evolutionary Season. 2020 is a big year! It's Maine's Bicentennial, it's the 100th Anniversary of Women's Suffrage, and it's an election year. So many revolutionary and evolutionary things to celebrate we've rolled them all into one big ball for a 51st Season of EPIC proportions.

Overall, this is a play about the young having their voices heard. The way these young people stand up and say, 'Listen to me!' is happening right now, all across the globea?? Young people are paying attention. And they deserve a seat at the table.a??

All of GTG's programming, inspired by the works of George Bernard Shaw, are designed to provoke peaceful discussion and activism.

a??a??a??a??a??a??a??Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, a Play with Music will make its New York City Debut in December 2019 with twelve performances across four city landmarks after last year's successful run in Boston. This two-man production features Dickens' original language supported by beloved Christmas songs and old-fashioned Foley-style sound effects, all performed live (see video sneak-peek here).

When thinking of the great composers and playwrights whose works have graced Arena Stage, these are the names that come to mind. So when Disney's Newsies was announced for this season, it is understandable why some were shaking their head quizzically.

Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier theatre company, celebrates the holiday season with the high-energy, singing and dancing Disney Classic Newsies. Disney/Newsies/The Broadway Musical/book by Harvey Fierstein/music y Alan Menken/lyrics by Jack Feldman/directed & choreographed by Janet Renslow/Candlelight Pavilion, Claremont/through November 23 Based on fact, in 1899 droves of newsboys from every borough of New York City banned together and went on strike against Joseph Pulitzer, William Randolph Hearst and other wealthy newspaper owners, in a crusade to save children from menial wages and physical abuse. This was a first, where uneducated street kids stood up to the big suits and won. In 1992 Disney created the movie Newsies that went on to become a popular hit. In 2012 Harvey Fierstein, Alan Menken and Jack Feldman came to Broadway with a musical show they created based on the film. Newsies is currently onstage at Candlelight Pavilion. This is a huge undertaking for Candlelight, and as with Titanic and other big shows of the past year, they have surpassed expectations to the A+ level. From the top the 28

Stop the presses! EPAC's production of Newsies is highly energetic and entertaining. Based on the 1992 Disney film of the same name, Newsies is a classic David and Goliath story about the real life 1899 NYC newsboy strike. Richard Thomas stars as Jack Kelly, a charismatic leader of the newsboys. Thomas has a fine voice and moves around the stage with grace and confidence. A quibble with the script is that I was not really sure how old his character was supposed to be. Some of Jack's dialogue and motives are more akin with that of a young adult, not someone who spends most of his day around ten year olds.

Skylight Music Theatre today announced that due to overwhelming demand, an additional week of performances has been added to Skylight's holiday show, Disney's Newsies. This triumphant Broadway blockbuster opens Friday, November 15 and runs through Sunday, December 29, 2019 with special early bird and family-friendly performance times, as well as a sensory-friendly performance. This feel-good, family-favorite musical will be presented in the beautiful Cabot Theatre at the Broadway Theatre Center, 158 N. Broadway, in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward.

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater will present the American Artist Award to Tony Award-winning actress, choreographer, director and author Baayork Lee. The award will be presented Wednesday, November 13, 2019 as part of the opening night celebration for Disney's Newsies, directed by Molly Smith.
