Acclaimed British television producer Beryl Vertue passed away peacefully of natural causes on the night of February 12th. The news was released by her daughters, Sue and Debbie Vertue this morning. According to Deadline, the Vertue daughters stated, 'It’s with the heaviest of hearts that we have to share the sad news that mum passed away peacefully last night. It wasn’t Covid, it was just her nearly 91-year-old body saying enough is enough.'

Roundabout Theatre Company is presenting The Refocus Project, a multi-year project to elevate and restore marginalized plays to the American canon. On Friday, April 30 the project will launch with Samm-Art Williams’ 90-minute drama HOME directed by Roundabout’s Senior Resident Director Kenny Leon.

The criteria are that these shows have been nominated for Best Musical from the 3rd Tony Awards (the ceremony that started the Best Musical category) in 1949 to the nominations of what will now be the 74th Tony Awards in 2021. I will be determining their signs based upon their Broadway premiere date. With those rules in mind, here we go!

Malmö Opera had their opening night of Funny Girl with the restriction of 50 people in the audience. In order to make it possible to all ticketholders to be able to see the show they have received the rights to send the musical with live stream. The live stream is restricted to the ticket holders who could not get one of the 50 seats to see it live at the theater.

The Riant Theatre (Van Dirk Fisher, Artistic Director), a nonprofit theatre supporting playwrights and theatremakers of diverse cultural backgrounds, is holding the Launch Party for its annual Strawberry One-Act and Theatre Festival on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at 4:30pm at the Thalia Studios at Peter Norton Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th St, NYC. The evening will begin with a reception with food, drinks and a screening of the Video Diaries Project: a series of short films about the artists in the festival.
