Paul Rodriguez In STEAMBATH - Revival Of Cult-Classic, Off-Broadway Hit At Odyssey Theatre

What if God turned out to be a Puerto Rican steam bath attendant, assisted by a butler named Gottlieb? Renowned stand up comedian and actor Paul Rodriguez stars in a revival of Steambath, the 1970 off Broadway hit comedy by Bruce Jay Friedman that also became a PBS television special. Odyssey Theatre Ensemble artistic director Ron Sossi directs for an Oct. 20 opening at West L.A.'s Odyssey Theatre, where performances will continue through Dec. 16.

Czech Marionettes Highlight Centennial Heritage Festival With New Works

From October 6 to 27 at the Upper East Side's Bohemian National Hall and Jan Hus Church, GOH Productions will present a Centennial Heritage Festival, featuring mainstage marionette theater productions for adults and kids and musical concerts for audiences of all ages. The festival celebrates two auspicious anniversaries: the Centennial Anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia (1918) and the Millennial Anniversary of the unification of the Lands of the Czech Crown, under Duke Oldrich (1018).

Mark Stuart Dance Theatre Celebrates 10th Anniversary Gala With Special Guests

Mark Stuart Dance Theatre (MSDT) will celebrate their 10th anniversary gala, honoring 10 years of art inspiring change, on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 5pm at New York Live Arts Theater (219 W 19th St).  The gala will include a performance of When Change Comes: A Movement Forward, which is playing a limited tour in September of 2018.  Featuring special performances from Abigail Breslin (Academy Award nominee, Little Miss Sunshine), "American Idol" alum Jerome Bell, and singer/songwriter Matt Cusson (John Lennon Songwriting Award winner, 'One of Those Nights' & 'Leaving L.A.'), and more, this one-night event marks a decade of MSDT's physically stunning and emotionally compelling storytelling making bold statements about our society.  A portion of the proceeds from the Gala will go directly to benefit March for Our Lives.

The Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival (HSDFF), presented by Mountain Valley Spring Water, announced today that HILLBILLY (d. Ashley York& Sally Rubin) will open the 27th annual festival in Hot Springs, Arkansas. HSDFF, the longest running all documentary film festival in North America, will celebrate its 27th season on October 19th-27th.

Lifetime delivers seven movies that fall under the realm of a parent's worst nightmare, tackling topics like mental health, suicide and teen domestic dating violence among others this fall. Michael Tilson Thomas And The New World Symphony Announce 2018-19 Year

In April 2018, the New World Symphony joined The Sphinx Organization and the League of American Orchestras in announcing their new partnership, the National Alliance for Audition Support (NAAS), which is a field-wide initiative with the long-term goal of increasing diversity in American orchestras. Supported by a four-year, $1.8 million grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Alliance offers a holistic and personalized array of support to Black and Latinx musicians to develop their audition skills, increase their participation in auditions, and ultimately, increase their representation in orchestras.

Patrons will be able to purchase tickets to any of the Walnut's Mainstage shows - Irving Berlin's HOLIDAY INN, Roald Dahl's MATILDA THE MUSICAL, Ken Ludwig's A COMEDY OF TENORS, THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME, and LEGALLY BLONDE: THE MUSICAL. The Box Office will open on Monday, August 13 for in-person ticket sales.

BWW Review: Spend a Day Filled with Artistic Delights at Art Festivals and THE PAGEANT OF THE MASTERS in Laguna Beach

For the past several summers, I have attended the Festival of Arts and The Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach. But this year, I also decided to also visit two other art festivals along Laguna Canyon Road rather than spend any time cruising the town as I had done before. The full-day of exploring all the artistic delights on display this year at all three locations left me dazzled by all the talent on display, while wishing I had lot of extra income to purchase and bring home many of the awe-inspiring items that caught my fancy. But the real highlight of the day was viewing the abundance of 'local color' on display in this summer's 'Under the Sun' themed Pageant of the Masters.

Theatricum Presents First-Ever Revival of HAITI

Will Geer's Theatricum Botanicum presents the first-ever revival of a historical melodrama about the Haitian revolution that graced the stage at New York's Lafayette Theatre in Harlem in 1938 as part of the Federal Theatre Project. Haiti by William DuBois will join Theatricum's summer repertory season beginning July 28. Performances will continue at Theatricum's beautiful outdoor venue in Topanga through Sept. 29.
