On November 3rd and 4th, Sarasota Youth Opera will present a revival of their acclaimed production of Benjamin Britten's charming opera The Little Sweep, last seen in 2013. The Opera will be preceded by a prologue created especially for Sarasota Youth Opera by conductor and Youth Opera Music Director Jesse Martins and stage director Martha Collins (Rootabaga Country, The Secret World of Og).

The video for “Gainesville”—a previously unreleased song on the Tom Petty career-spanning box set An American Treasure—is premiering today. “Gainesville” was recorded in 1998 during Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers' Echo sessions, and the video was directed by Brantley Gutierrez and produced by Michael W. For his inaugural season as Principal Conductor of Orchestra of St. Luke's, Bernard Labadie has curated a three-concert residency at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage-marking the 32nd year of the OSL series at Carnegie Hall-with a focus on the music and influence of Joseph Haydn. The first concert on Thursday, October 25 at 8:00 p.m., which pairs Haydn's "Nelson Mass" with Mozart's Requiem, K. 626 (revised and completed by Robert Levin), marks OSL's first collaboration with La Chapelle de Quebec, the choir founded and directed by Maestro Labadie. Soloists joining the ensembles on stage include soprano Lauren Snouffer, mezzo-soprano Susan Graham, tenor Lothar Odinius, and bass-baritone Philippe Sly.

The Barbican today launches Life Rewired, an arts and learning season running throughout 2019 exploring what it means to be human in the face of technological and scientific forces that are dizzying in their speed, scale and complexity.

This October, 1,000 singers from across New York City's five boroughs will come together on the High Line for the premiere performances of The Mile-Long Opera: a biography of 7 o'clock. Due to overwhelming demand for tickets to the previously announced performances (October 3-7), an encore performance will be added on October 8.Tickets for this additional night will be made available first to members of the public currently on the waitlist, on a first come, first served basis, beginning Thursday, September 27, at noon. The Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) has announced the launch of the DeGaetano Composition Institute, with the first edition taking place in July 2019 at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music. Four exceptional emerging composers will be selected through a national call-for-scores to workshop new works for chamber orchestra under the leadership of 2019 mentor and composer Anna Clyne. This new initiative was established through a generous gift from the estate of pianist, composer and teacher Robert DeGaetano, and will occur annually each July.  

On Saturday night, September 22, Main Street Theater (MST) opened its 43rd Season with the Regional Premiere of Lauren Gunderson's The Book of Will.  This compelling play tells the tale of how Shakespeare's First Folio came into existence thanks to the loyalty and love of his dear friends, particularly John Heminges and Henry Condell.

Following the announcement of their Opening Night Film, Yen Tan's award-winning AIDS drama 1985, NewFest today announced the full lineup of their 30th annual celebration of the year's best LGBT films from around the world. The program of more than 140 narrative features, documentaries, episodic series and shorts runs from October 24-30 at the SVA Theatre, Cinépolis Chelsea, and The LGBT Community Center in New York City.

Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) today announced a new initiative, a three-week, multi-disciplinary Bach Festival featuring 15 concerts across three venues in Manhattan, June 6-22, 2019. The programmatic centerpieces include performances by Paul Taylor Dance Company and the Goldberg Variations, which receives two interpretations - including the U.S. premiere of Bernard Labadie's orchestral setting - and provides the Festival theme: 'Transformation.'

Providence Ballet Theatre is proud to present Twas the Night Before Christmas, our holiday ballet performance for school students (December 13 &14) and the public (December 14th)evening. Based on the classic tale, this ballet will enchant all ages. The ballet is choreographed and directed by Rhode Island native Eva Marie Pacheco.
