South Coast Repertory Artistic Director David Ivers and Managing Director Paula Tomei today announced the lineup for the 2020 Pacific Playwrights Festival (PPF). The annual showcase of new works, part of the theatre's new-play development arm, The Lab@SCR, includes two world-premiere productionsa?"The Scarlet Letter by Kate Hamill and I Get Restless by Caroline V. Ovation, America's only arts network, announced today their full slate of holiday programming for winter 2019. Starting Monday, December 9, the arts network will begin airing holiday films as well as special holiday episodes from such series as The Art Of, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, The Librarians, Travel Man, and Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. All holiday programming will also be available on VOD and on the Ovation NOW app.

Lovers of new theatre will gather this August for an advance look at tomorrow's hits at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's 2019 New Works Festival at Palo Alto's Lucie Stern Theatre. This unique festival offers audiences an extraordinary opportunity to experience new plays and musicals in their early stages of development, and hear about the creative process in a "Meet the Artists" panel discussion. With multiple performances of each work, playwrights and composers are able to revise and refine their shows during the festival, allowing audiences to view the exciting evolution of brand new pieces of theatre. The Grammy Museum will be hosting NOTES ON LIVING: ALL-STAR JAZZ WITH TALES BY BRIAN DOYLE May 14, 2019 as a joint benefit for WordTheatre in the Schools (WITS) and the Grammy Museum. WordTheatre's artistic director Cedering Fox will be producing and directing this evening of selected stories by award-winning author Brian Doyle, read by a star-studded cast, and accompanied by an all-star jazz band led by Starr Parodi. Cedering opened up some of her early evening time to speak to me.

The Legendary David Hargraves is the voice of the ghost of Hamlet's father in the Shakespeare@ inaugural production of HAMLET, which begins performances Thursday, March 28th. The 15th annual Los Angeles Women's International Film Festival opens on Thursday, March 21 at 8pm at the Regal Cinemas at LA Live in Downtown Los Angeles. Kicking off with screening of State Like Sleep, the festival continues through Sunday, March 24, with features, documentaries, shorts. The festival closes Sunday, March 24 at 8:00 pm with a screening of Daisy Winters staring  Brooke Shields, Iwan Rheon, Carrie Preston, Sterling Jerins. Directed and written Esther Bialas.

New Jersey Theatre Alliance, in partnership with New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark, announces the return of NJPAC Stage Exchange for a fifth year. The program gives established playwrights an opportunity to hear commentary from the public about their new works at a special sneak peek reading event on Friday, March 8 at NJPAC.

The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage presents The Story Pirates Present: This Show is Missing! On Saturday, March 30 at 11:00am. Grab your magnifying glasses and funny-looking, double-sided hats because a mystery is afoot at Story Pirates headquarters. They are celebrating the release of their latest book with a show…but their script has vanished! The Story Pirates need help from kids in the audience to get to the bottom of it.
