REVIEW: The Wildly Fictionalized THE MARVELLOUS ELEPHANT MAN THE MUSICAL Pays Homage To Victorian Age Obsession With Human Oddities And Penny Dreadfuls

Marc Lucchesi, Sarah Nandagopan and Jayan Nandagopan (joint Writers and Composers) new work THE MARVELLOUS ELEPHANT MAN THE MUSICAL arrives in Sydney as part of its current tour of the Fringe Festival Circuit. An absurd mashup of the Victorian era medical mystery and the tradition of the Penny Dreadful horror stories, this work draws artistic influence from vaudeville, cabaret, burlesque and slapstick humor but don’t expect much connection to Joseph Merrick’s real story.

Photos: First look at Stage Right Theatrics' THE UNCANNY

by Jerri Shafer - May 20, 2022

“The Uncanny” is a first for Stage Right Theatrics in that it features both film and stage elements. The play is directed by Ohio resident Matt Hermiz, who had this to say about adapting part of the play for film: “The primary male character is a Hollywood film producer versed in particular in horror films and the cinematic history thereof. It seems like a logical extension of the play’s themes to tell part of the overall story with the cinematic medium.” Performances are May 20-21 and 27 at 7:30 PM, May 22 at 1:30 PM, and May 25-26 at 7 PM at the Abbey Theatre of Dublin (5600 Post Rd, Dublin, OH 43017). Photo Flash: First Official Look at Holmes and Watson in BASKERVILLE

by Chloe Rabinowitz - Mar 5, 2020

Ken Ludwig's Baskerville - A Sherlock Holmes Mystery is without question the most brilliantly funny adaptations of one of Holmes' most famous cases. Since it was first published in the Strand Magazine between August 1901 and April 1902, The Hound of the Baskerville has become possibly the most well known case of the crime fighting duo, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. In Ludwig's version, as Holmes and Watson work to solve the case, only three other actors play all 43 other roles in the play; more often than not, changing those characters in a split second right before your very eyes. That's right. Ludwig wrote the show to only have five people in the cast!

BWW Review: Spend a Day Filled with Artistic Delights at Art Festivals and THE PAGEANT OF THE MASTERS in Laguna Beach

by Shari Barrett - Jul 31, 2018

For the past several summers, I have attended the Festival of Arts and The Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach. But this year, I also decided to also visit two other art festivals along Laguna Canyon Road rather than spend any time cruising the town as I had done before. The full-day of exploring all the artistic delights on display this year at all three locations left me dazzled by all the talent on display, while wishing I had lot of extra income to purchase and bring home many of the awe-inspiring items that caught my fancy. But the real highlight of the day was viewing the abundance of 'local color' on display in this summer's 'Under the Sun' themed Pageant of the Masters.
