Roundabout Theatre Company and Columbia University School of the Arts have announced the winners of Columbia@Roundabout's 2019 New Play Reading Series. As part of the collaborative partnership between Roundabout Theatre Company and Columbia University, the reading series awards three playwrights from the current MFA program and recent alumni with a cash prize as well as a reading in Roundabout's Rehearsal Hall, followed by a post-reading reception. Five finalists have also received cash prizes in recognition of their exceptional work. No other collaborative partnership in the New York area brings together an esteemed Ivy League MFA program with a Tony Award-winning, not-for-profit theatre. The reading series is made possible by a grant from The Tow Foundation.

Andi Chapman directs for anOct. 11 opening at the Kiki & David Gindler Performing Arts Center in Glendale, where performances continue through Nov. 25. Low-priced previews begin Oct. 3.

Palmyra Area High School's Musical Program is currently in the final weeks of rehearsals for its upcoming pilot production of Amélie: High School Edition to be presented Sat., Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. and Sun., Sept. 15 at 2 p.m. on the stage of the Palmyra Middle School. Palmyra is partnering with the creators of the 2017 Broadway musical and Samuel French, Inc., a Concord Theatricals Company, on a special pilot production. The musical has been adapted for high school performers, and Palmyra will present the show prior to its general release. The pilot process allows Samuel French to fine-tune the script, music, and materials.

The Bros. Landreth, aka Joey & Dave Landreth, have premiered a new single, “Good Love”, today via Billboard prior to its release this Friday.  The Winnipeg duo will release their sophomore album '87 on September 27 via Birthday Cake/The Orchard, previewing material at this year's Americana Music Festival in Nashville, September 14, before embarking on tours of North America in October, the UK & Europe in November (all dates below).

Trafalgar Releasing today announced that they will bring Shakira in Concert: El Dorado World Tour to cinemas worldwide for a one-night event on November 13 with encore screenings to follow in select locations. The California premiere of Nick Dear's adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic novel, FRANKENSTEIN, launches A Noise Within's 2019-2020 season August 11, 2019. Vs. Theatre Company presents Sam Shepard's masterpiece TRUE WEST, directed by Scott Cummins (Killer Joe, Bug). TRUE WEST will open on Friday, July 26 at 8pm and will perform through Saturday, August 31 at Vs. Theatre, 5453 W. Pico Blvd. in Los Angeles.
