New York Classical Theatre Announces Cast For Oscar Wilde's THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST

New York Classical Theatre (Stephen Burdman, Artistic Director) kicks off its 20th anniversary season with a gender-flipping production of Oscar Wilde's comic masterpiece The Importance of Being Earnest, with the entire cast swapping roles at every other performance. The production, directed by Stephen Burdman, also marks the debut of NY Classical's annual indoor performance, extending its season year-round and continuing its all-free performance policy. Drury Lane Theatre announces casting for its production of the international megahit Mamma Mia!, with music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Bj rn Ulvaeus, some songs with Stig Anderson, and book by Catherine Johnson. Originally conceived by Judy Craymer, Mamma Mia! is directed by Artistic Director William Osetek and choreographed by Jane Lanier with music direction by Roberta Duchak. Ritsch Artistic Director of Rep Stage, the tale of worlds turned topsy-turvy with assumed identities lampoons the absurdity of Victorian virtues. The Everyman production showcases a subtext that is as relevant today as it was to its intended 19th-century audience-Wilde's 'bachelor' compatriots-inside jokes abound through subtly scripted details. I have been a huge fan of both Wil Love and Carl Schurr for many years. They are currently both performing in Everyman Theatre's The Importance of Being Earnest which ends its run Dec. 30, 2018. They have become two patriarchs of the Baltimore theatre scene. Since their meeting at Center Stage in 1971, they have performed, produced, and adapted hundreds of performances both regionally and nationally. Now in their 10th year as Resident Company Members at Everyman Theatre, Wil and Carl have plenty of war stories and advice to share.
