Making its grand return to downtown Atlanta since 2015, Shaky Boots Festival will take place at Central Park, May 8-9, 2020. A Southern country festival true to its roots with a modern edge, Shaky Boots will feature over 20 bands across two stages with no overlapping sets. On November 6, 2019, The New York Landmarks Conservancy will host its 26th Living Landmarks Celebration at The Plaza. In addition to Mark Morris, this year's honorees are Carole Bailey French, Ted Mathas, H. Carl McCall, Emily K. Rafferty and Barbara & Donald Tober. The following previous honorees will also be involved: David Patrick Columbia as host, Peter Duchin and his Orchestra will provide entertainment, and Liz & Jeff Peek and Patsy & Jeff Tarr as Honorary Co-Chairs for the evening. More than 500 guests are expected to attend this 26th annual tribute.

Legendary actor Al Pacino joins fellow Academy Award winner Geoffrey Rush for Simply Shakespeare: The Merchant of Venice, a one-night only staged benefit reading to support The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles. Tony Award winner Dan Sullivan reunites Pacino (Shylock) with his Merchant of Venice Broadway stars Lily Rabe (Portia) and Hamish Linklater (Bassanio). All three actors originally appeared in Sullivan's 2010 production for the New York Shakespeare Festival's summer festival in Central Park that quickly transferred to Broadway for a limited sold-out run. Rush steps in to read the role of Antonio and Keith David will read the roles of the Duke of Venice and Solerio. Simply Shakespeare: The Merchant of Venice will take place Monday, October 28 at 8pm at The Gindi Auditorium, American Jewish University.

Charles Flateman Announced as Chairman of the Board of NYC & Company

NYC & Company Chairman of the Board of Directors Emily K. Rafferty has announced her decision to step down from her chairmanship in February 2020. When Rafferty leaves her post next year, she will have served as Board Chairman of the organization for nearly 12 years and presided over a tourism industry that has enjoyed 10 consecutive years of growth. In accordance with NYC & Company's bylaws, the organization's Executive Committee today voted to elect longstanding Vice Chairman Charles Flateman, Executive Vice President of the Shubert Organization, to fill the remaining portion of Emily Rafferty's term, through February 2021.
