Kansas City Repertory Theatre Executive Director Angela Lee Gieras has announced the organization's 2019 Gala, THE CAST PARTY. Featuring a performance by international recording artist and Broadway veteran Shoshana Bean, THE CAST PARTY promises an evening of Broadway-style glamour. Gala chairs Roshann Parris and Jeff Dobbs will host this annual fundraising event on Friday, May 10, at 5:30 PM at The Abbott, located at 1901 Cherry St. in Kansas City's Crossroads arts district.

Last night Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF), the non-for-profit foundation of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC), hosted the annual "Mr. Abbott" Award gala and celebrated the 60th anniversary of SDC.

American Opera Projects (AOP) announces the return of its popular Composers & the Voice program for its 2019-21 seasons. Created and led by Composers & the Voice Artistic Director Steven Osgood, six composers and up to three librettists will be selected for two-year fellowships to learn the fundamentals of writing for the voice and opera stage. Workshop sessions with professional opera singers, mentors, and instructors are held at AOP's home base in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Applications and complete information will be available beginning March 18 at www.aopopera.org/composers_voice. The deadline for applications is April 26 with fellowships announced by July 16.

The Board of the Museum of Performance + Design takes great pleasure in announcing that Michael Tilson Thomas will be presented with the 2019 San Francisco Arts Medallion for his outstanding leadership in the arts on May 14, 2019, at Saint Joseph's Arts Society in San Francisco. The San Francisco Arts Medallion was created in 2005 by the Museum of Performance + Design (MP+D) to recognize those individuals whose leadership, action, and generosity have benefited the cultural life of the San Francisco Bay Area. Proceeds from the event benefit the preservation and educational programs at MP+D.

In an extraordinary concert-film event, only the second such screening ever in the United States, the blockbuster film Titanic will be shown on a vast LED outdoor screen with James Horner's epic score performed live by the New West Symphony's renowned orchestra on Saturday night, June 22, in Thousand Oaks.   The special showing will take place at the William Rolland Stadium on the campus of California Lutheran University.

Houston Grand Opera (HGO) announced today the winners of the 31st annual Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers Concert of Arias, which took place in the Cullen Theater of the Wortham Theater Center. This is the third year the Concert of Arias was streamed live on Facebook, and the second for livestreaming on YouTube. The livestream was hosted by HGO Studio alumna Andrea Carroll. She is currently performing in The Pearl Fishers as Le la and placed first in the 2012 Concert of Arias. The winners were announced during the second portion of the program.

Stephen Brower made his Broadway debut in the Broadway company of Anastasia. Beginning as a vacation cover, he soon joined the ensemble as a 'Dmitry' understudy and had the opportunity to go on in the role several times.
