Neil Simon’s Rose and Walsh, directed by Carryn McLean, is the story of two ageing lovers who were once literary giants. The production runs from November 25th through December 10th. Vineyard Theatre has announced the company’s upcoming 40th Anniversary Season which will include three world-premiere productions. Kicking off the season will be David Cale’s Sandra, which reunites Cale and director Leigh Silverman following the acclaimed Harry Clarke, which premiered at the Vineyard in 2017.

The criteria are that these shows have been nominated for Best Musical from the 3rd Tony Awards (the ceremony that started the Best Musical category) in 1949 to the nominations of what will now be the 74th Tony Awards in 2021. Opening this past Friday was the Theatre In The Park, indoor, community theater production of 1966's 'Sweet Charity' The show is best known for several Cy Coleman/Dorothy Field songs that have long survived the play's original run and several revivals. The most well-known tunes are 'Big Spender,' 'If My Friends Could See Me Now,' and 'There's Gotta Be Something Better Than This.'

Simon has won three Tony Awards, a Pulitzer Prize, the Kennedy Center's Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, and has been nominated for four Academy Awards for his various plays and screenwritings. He has written over 30 plays and during the 1967 Broadway Season had four of his plays in production at the same time (Barefoot in the Park, The Odd Couple, Sweet Charity, and The Star-Spangled Girl). In 1987, Broadway Bound received four nominations for the Best Play and Drama Desk Award, was a nominee for the Tony Award Best Play, and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Drama.
