According to Entertainment Weekly, Patti LuPone will guest star in upcoming episode of MOM on CBS. LuPone will play Rita, the (demanding) new owner of the building that is managed by Bonnie (Allison Janney). Rita is a bit of a live wire: Freshly divorced, she's either barking orders or sharing way too much about her personal life. LuPone's episode will air in April.

On this day in 1979, the murderous barber, Sweeney Todd slashed his way into Broadway's Uris Theater (now the Gershwin).

Stephen Sondheim, who wrote the music and lyrics for 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street,' which is now in production at Blank Canvas, is noted as a brilliant lyricist. Interestingly, that is not the way he sees himself. He is well-trained as a musical composer, having, from a young age, been the prodigy of Oscar Hammerstein II. Yes, the composer of such mega hits as 'Oklahoma,' 'South Pacific' and 'Sound of Music.'

In this stripped-down version fierce lovers explore revenge, passion, and greed through Sondheim's masterful Tony & Drama Desk winning score.

Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) Artistic Director Terrence Mann and Executive Producer Matthew J. Pugliese are pleased to announce the lineup for the 2018 Nutmeg Summer Series.  The second season under the artistic leadership of three-time Tony Award nominee Mann will include "Disaster!", "Sweeney Todd: A Musical Thriller In Concert" and "Jesus Christ Superstar". Producers of the Tooting Arts Club production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, which broke the Barrow Street Theatre sales house record for the week ending December 31st, announced today that Thom Sesma (as Sweeney Todd), Sally Ann Triplett (as Mrs. Lovett), Zachary Noah Piser (as Tobias), Billy Harrigan Tighe (as Anthony) and DeLaney Westfall (as Johanna) will join current cast members Michael James Leslie (as Judge Turpin), John Rapson (as The Beadle) and Stacie Bono (as Pirelli & Beggar Woman) startingTuesday, February 27, 2018. The cast also includes Matt Leisy, Liz Pearce, Danny Rothman and Monet Sabel.

A concert production of Stephen Sondheim's dark musical masterpiece 'Sweeney Todd' will be presented at 2 and 7 p.m. Nov. 18 at Cedar Crest College's Samuels Theatre in Allentown, PA.

Continuing its cross-country tour, John Strand's critically-acclaimed political drama The Originalist, based on the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, will play at 59E59 Theaters under the direction of Artistic Director Molly Smith.

The Atlanta Opera will present From Opera to Opry: Liquor, Love and the Lord on Tuesday, December 5th at The Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse. Now in its second year, the holiday concert, in collaboration with ADA Ovations, will feature renowned professional opera singers as well as the bluegrass and country stylings of Cletus McHatfield and the McHatfield Fambly Singers. From Opera to Opry thrilled a packed house in December 2016, bringing the crowd to its feet on multiple occasions to applaud, as well as dance in the aisles.

Bear's voice and demeanor is complimentary with a more energetic, bubbly quality. The pair have good chemistry together.
