Internationally acclaimed one woman show BETTE DAVIS AIN'T FOR SISSIES has been one of the success stories of the pandemic era. Just before COVID lockdowns began, writer/performer Jessica Sherr was in negotiations for the official Off-Broadway debut of her touring show.

Broadway Live Cinema Festival, the new film and live performance event honoring Broadway and movie musicals, has announced the lineup of artists set to perform live at the inaugural festival this summer at AMC Empire 25 Theater in Times Square (234 W 42nd St, NYC). 

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Rhinebeck Writers Retreat will host nine weeklong in-person residencies for 23 musical theatre writers of nine new musicals between June 27 and August 29.  Writers include Tony-nominee Beth Malone, Emily Saliers of Indigo Girls; Jonathan Larson winners Avi Amon, Sara Cooper, Ty Defoe, and Anna Jacobs and more.

From classic movies like, “The Wizard of Oz,” “Dirty Dancing, “Crazy Rich Asians,” “27 Dresses” and “The Notebook” to Max Originals such as “Love Life,” “Selena + Chef, and “The Great Pottery Throwdown,” to beloved HBO series like “Big Little Lies” and “Sex and the City,” there’s something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

Just before COVID lockdowns began, writer/performer Jessica Sherr was in negotiations for the official Off-Broadway debut of her touring show. Her first livestream of BETTE DAVIS AIN'T FOR SISSIES on April 3, 2020 via Facebook proved that there was interest in Davis and watching solo performances from home.

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center has announced their Spring season of digital offerings from April 1 to July 1, which is dedicated to the late Gustave M. Hauser.  CMS presents 28 digital programs, with concerts premiering on Thursday evenings at 7:30 and educational and hybrid talk-and-performance programs premiering on Monday evenings.

Theatre for a New Audience presents First Love, a theatricalization for Zoom of Samuel Beckett's short story of the same name, directed by six-time OBIE winner JoAnne Akalaitis and performed by Tony and Emmy Award nominee Bill Camp (Broadway: Death of a Salesman, The Crucible; TV: The Queen's Gambit, The Night Of). The creative team includes Eamonn Farrell (Video Design), Jennifer Tipton (Lighting Design) and Kaye Voyce (Scenic and Costume Design).

A handful of intrepid solo performers are presenting live, outdoor pop up performances of their acclaimed solo shows this Fall. These intimate storytelling events are presented using the LiveTours app and performed for an audience of 14 or less.

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center has announced a Fall Season of digital concerts to replace each of the performances originally scheduled for Alice Tully Hall -- Front Row Mainstage, 16 newly-curated concerts drawn from CMS's vast archive of high-quality recordings.

Amidst our recent heatwave, Dr. Heather Nathans, a theatre professor, practitioner, and writer raised by two historians, felt a particular physical connection to the stuffiness eighteenth century Bostonians would have undoubtedly experienced in theatres during the summer.

Two prolific, award winning artists, Carl Hancock Rux and Mallory Catlett, both former artists in Mabou Mines' Resident Artist Program, embody the company's mission to foster the next generation of experimental theater artists and bring with them a strong vision for the future of Mabou Mines.

Kunstfest Weimar (International Festival) opened last night. The programme has had to be adapted and adjusted to work in the current restrictions but it remains as diverse, contemporary and rich with politically relevant work as ever. The Festival runs until 13 September.
