Irish Arts Center and Baryshnikov Arts Center join forces again to present the U.S. premiere of Colin Dunne's Concert, in which he takes on the widely influential Irish fiddle player Tommie Potts' iconic—and notoriously choreographically challenging—1972 album The Liffey Banks, armed with an LP, tape recorder, portable speakers, and sheets of flooring. Choreographed and performed by Dunne, and created in collaboration with director Sinéad Rushe and composer and sound designer Mel Mercier, Concert, which The Irish Times, in a five-star review, described as “warm, funny, respectful, and irreverent,” comes to Baryshnikov Arts Center November 14-16.

Kansas City Repertory Theatre (KCRep), announced the full schedule for this season's popular Monday Night Playwright Series, which opened with BURIED ROOTS, its first play of the series, on Monday. The series features a line-up of new and returning playwrights including Michelle Tyrene Johnson, Darren Canady, James Still, Migdalia Cruz, Mashuq Mushtaq Deen and Ellen McLaughlin. Estudió Letras Francesas en el Instituto Francés de América Latina; la licenciatura en Letras Modernas y Latinoamericanas en la Universidad de Guanajuato; la maestría y el doctorado en Letras Modernas e Iberoamericanas en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, y el doctorado en Literatura Comparada en la Universidad de París.

Su nombre es sinonimo de cine y teatro musical. Ha creado las bandas sonoras de la epoca dorada de Disney como LA BELLA Y LA BESTIA o ALADDIN, y tambien musicales inolvidables como LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS o NEWSIES, por el que gano el Premio Tony.

"In a story, someone had a dream. In that Dream, someone told a story." A Dream Like a Dream is one of the most celebrated Chinese theatrical masterworks of the 21st century. It was conceived and created by Stan Lai, who recently became the first Chinese theatre professional inducted into the Sibiu Walk of Fame at the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, Romania's pre-eminent performing arts event. In 2002, the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre was the first professional company to mount A Dream Like a Dream, winning Best Overall Performance, Best Costume Design and Best Supporting Actor (TragedyDrama) at the 12th Hong Kong Drama Awards. After a hiatus of 17 years, the HKRep produces this work anew, co-directed by Stan Lai and HKRep Assistant Artistic Director Fung Wai Hang, with special guests Louisa So, three-time Hong Kong Drama Award Best Actor Poon Chan Leung and ViuTV series star Cecilia Choi from My Very Short Marriage leading a 30-member cast of HKRep company members and other outstanding local actors. The production runs from July 28th to September 8th at The Box, Freespace, Art Park, West Kowloon Cultural District. On July 11th, a limited number of tickets will be available for sale for the preview performance (July 27th) and the production run from URBTIX outlets and the West Kowloon Cultural District.

The National Theatre has announced 15 productions of new plays and fresh adaptations by leading writers.

Gracias a un cargo diplomático, Octavio Paz tuvo la oportunidad de estar en la India varios años, periodo en el que enriqueció su producción literaria al expandir sus horizontes con la cultura de dicho lugar; integró el arte y la filosofía orientales como fuente de inspiración.  El poeta llegó a comentar que su estancia en ese país influyó en sus escritos poéticos, ensayísticos y en su vida misma.

Por unanimidad, la bailarina y coreógrafa Laura Rocha fue elegida para recibir el Premio Nacional de Danza José Limón 2019, considerada la máxima condecoración que se otorga en México a personalidades distinguidas que han contribuido en el quehacer dancístico nacional.

Hoy comparten cumpleaños los grandisimos compositores Stephen Sondheim y Andrew Lloyd Webber, sin los cuales el Teatro Musical no habria sido el mismo, y hacemos un repaso las producciones mas recientes que se han hecho en España de sus obras.

Con el estreno mundial de la pieza vocal Mi hermano, el hombre (2014), Solistas Ensamble del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (INBAL) rendirá homenaje al primer pedagogo musical de México, César Tort, al tiempo de iniciar su primera temporada del año en la Sala Manuel M. Ponce.
