AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE released casting for its fall season at the David H. Koch Theater, featuring three repertory programs including the company premiere of Helen Pickett's Petal and the world premiere of Brady Farrar's Trio Élégiaque.

54 Below will present performers from Broadway, cabaret, jazz, and entertainment, including artists in October, including Jenn Colella, Ali Ewoldt, Christine Ebersole and more.

Directed by Jonathan O'Boyle, this production comes from Barn Theatre Cirencester where it was first staged in 2022, revived for a summer run and now transfers with its full Barn company before heading off on a national tour. It arrives as a hastily arranged replacement for the troubled Burlesque that is doing its own circuit of the UK after cancelling what was meant to be its opening run.

At roughly six minutes, the Memorium is an excellent introduction to the “tintinnabula” (bell) minimalist style created by the composer. A simple melodic line combines with a separate line of triads. Music majors have written theses describing the style in excruciating detail, but the effect Pärt achieves is a bell-like simplicity that can evoke rapt spiritual introspection.

xBroadway’s current theater capacity rules have not always been how they are now. The distinctions between Broadway, off-Broadway, and other types of venues have changed over the decades as the industry has evolved.
