LEGEND & LORE, LAUGHTER, EMERGE, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN CHOREOGRAPH Set for Repertory Dance Theatre 2026–2027 Season
The Utah modern dance company will perform works at Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in Salt Lake City.
Repertory Dance Theatre (RDT) has announced its 2026–2027 Season, titled Season 61: A Season of Gratitude, highlighting the artists, audiences, and supporters who have contributed to the company’s history while introducing new creative initiatives.
The season introduces two multi-year initiatives: Living Landscapes, which revisits works inspired by Utah’s natural environment, and Honoring Linda C. Smith, celebrating the legacy of the company’s Director Emerita through new commissions and restaged works.
LEGEND & LORE
October 1–3, 2026
The season opens with LEGEND & LORE, exploring myths, stories, and natural forces of the American Southwest and Great Basin. The program includes Dark Meadow Suite (1946/2016) by Martha Graham, Liquid Interior (1994) by Margaret Jenkins and Ellie Klopp, a new commission by Penny Saunders, and Castor and Pollux (1956) by Elizabeth Waters.
LAUGHTER
November 19–21, 2026
LAUGHTER will feature works celebrating humor and energy in modern dance, including Scherzo Fantastique (2025) by Norbert De La Cruz III, Come Rain or Come Shine (2025) by Nicholas Cendese, Bluegrass (1998) by Susan Hadley, Time Out (1980) by Tim Hadel, and a new commission by Francesca Romo, along with a community-focused piece.
EMERGE
January 8–9, 2027
EMERGE 2027 will showcase choreography by RDT dancers and artistic staff, highlighting artists from across the Utah dance community.
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN CHOREOGRAPH
March 6, 2027
The event will invite community members to create original works with mentorship from RDT dancers, focusing on collaboration and creativity.
LUMINARY
April 15–17, 2027
Closing the season, LUMINARY will launch the Honoring Linda C. Smith initiative and feature a new commission by Ihsan Rustem, alongside Concerto Grosso (1945) by José Limón and Outdoors by Noa Zuk and Ohad Fishof.
Special Season Add-On: JOURNEY: AMERICA IN MOTION
March 12–13, 2027
RDT will also present JOURNEY: America in Motion, a 60-minute educational performance tracing the history of modern dance in the United States through live performance, multimedia, and narration.
Ticketing Information
RDT will continue its tiered ticket pricing model, with single tickets increasing by $2 for the new season. Subscription packages and single tickets will be available, with season tickets on sale now and single tickets available beginning August 15.
