The critically acclaimed 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival production of Joe Orton's The Ruffian on the Stair has been extended for 10 performances only, it was announced today by Hicks Street Productions. Under the direction of Mark Kemble, the cast features (in alphabetical order) Sile Bermingham, Reed Michael Campbell, and Brian Foyster.

The awards, named for the Women's Forum founder Elinor Guggenheimer, will honor outstanding women leaders. Playwright Patrick Gabridge, the 2018-2019 Mount Auburn Cemetery Artist-in-Residence, creates a series of site-specific plays which focus on the natural world of the 175-acre landscaped jewel in the heart of Cambridge. Five short plays inspired by and staged at various locales throughout the cemetery are a mix of comedy and drama, with a quartet of fine actors under the direction of Courtney O'Connor. The 75-minute performance requires walking approximately a mile and a half, but it truly is a splendid walk in the park and seating is provided at each location.

Joe Orton's The Ruffian on the Stair is set for four performances only in the 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival, it was announced today by Hicks Street Productions. Under the direction of Mark Kemble, the cast will feature (in alphabetical order) S le Bermingham, Reed Michael Campbell, and Brian Foyster. Lighting design is by Matt Richter. The performance dates and times are Sunday 6/9 at 4pm; Thursday 6/13 at 8:30pm; Friday 6/21 at 6:30pm; and Saturday 6/22 at 8pm. Running time will be 60 minutes.

There's terrific acting in the touring cast, even if the singing voices waver from Platt to flat. We get an incredibly convincing Evan in Ben Levi Ross (an understudy for the same role on Broadway). He interprets the character as nervous, nerdy, and unknowingly funny. It's an excellent performance...

Following its first week of performances, Jeff Cohen's The Soap Myth-led by seven-time Emmy Award and five-time Golden Globe Award winner Ed Asner-will continue its national tour of concert readings on Monday, April 22 with a special one-night-only engagement at The Center for Jewish History in New York City. The reading, directed by Pam Berlin, will be filmed for future broadcast on WNET's new 24/7 arts and culture broadcast channel and streaming platform, ALL ARTS.
