The hit Chicago musical set against the backdrop of the Chicago Cubs 2016 championship season, MIRACLE, is announcing its final weeks, closing on Sunday, September 29. In its successful five month run, the musical was seen by over 30,000 people including Chicago Cubs players David Ross, Willson Contreras, Kerry Wood, Ryan Dempster and Ryne Sandberg, as well as numerous local celebrities including Jim Belushi, Allison Victoria of HGTV, Wayne Messmer, Tom Ricketts, Tom Dreesen and many more who lauded the production. Today, William Marovitz and Arny Granat, co-producers of the production, are thrilled to announce that MIRACLE has been nominated for a 2019 Equity Jeff Award in the a?oeNew Work- Musicala?? category. Now playing at the Royal George Theatre, 1641 North Halsted, MIRACLE is providing Chicago Cubs fans and theatregoers a final opportunity to relive the Chicago Cubs 2016 World Series win.

The Fabulous Fox, The Muny and The Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation have announced the 41 participating schools for the 2019-2020 St. Louis High School Musical Theatre Awards season (SLHSMTA). The year-long adjudicating process kicks-off with Visitation Academy's Once Upon a Mattress, October 10-12 and continues through late April of next year. In early May of 2020, nominees will be announced in 14 categories, including Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Lead Actress and Actor and a new category, The Carol B. Loeb Production Enhancement Award. Modeled on The Tony Awards, the 2019-2020 SLHSMTA season will culminate with an awards ceremony on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at 4 p.m. at The Fabulous Fox Theatre with the Outstanding Lead Actress and Actor advancing to compete in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (Jimmy Awards) in New York. Carol B. Loeb will serve as presenting sponsor with KTVI FOX2 and KPLR 11 partnering as media sponsors once again.

Award-winning actor, writer, director, producer, polymath and advocate for science communication Alan Alda has been named the 55th recipient of SAG-AFTRA's highest tribute: the SAG Life Achievement Award for career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment. Summer can officially begin in Sacramento! Broadway at Music Circus kicks off its new season on June 11 with Shrek the Musical. Shrek brings something for the entire family to enjoy and is the perfect accompaniment to PRIDE month with its message of inclusion. As one of the Fairytale Creatures says, 'It's time to stop the hiding. It's time to stand up tall.' Jennifer Leigh Warren, who plays Dragon, wholeheartedly agrees. Rory D. Sheriff - if you haven't heard that name, it's only a matter of time before you will. Statuesque, bearded and dread-locked, he is a man that's very visible, even in a crowded room. Yet, there is a humbleness and genuine kindness that is etched in his face and resonates in his voice. Why is this man so significant? Under the auspice of his production company, Brand New Sheriff (BNS) Productions, is consistently providing a platform of entertainment via the performing arts as a resident playwright at the Duke Energy Theater of Belk Performing Arts Center. His passion for community theater is echoed loud and clear through his talent-filled cast and masterfully-produced stage plays.

Purlie played by Ronald Edwards is a newfangled preacher man extolling the gospel of freedom. Tanasha West partners with him in the lead as love struck Lutiebelle and the key to Purlie's plan to win back Big Bethel - the family's symbol of freedom. Crystalyn Monet joins the cast as Aunt Missy apprehensive yet committed to Purlie's ambitious plan. While, Terry Kiser embodies the realist Gitlow, 'Deputy of the Color People', Missy's husband and Purlie's brother. Brian Christopher Roberson arrived in Atlanta just in time to portray Charlie Cotchipee who openly challenges the racist ideas of the old south which drives his plantation owning, Jim Crow believing father, Ol' Cap'n Cotchipee played by Ian Scott, also a newcomer to metro Atlanta, crazy. DeEtta West, sister to Cleavon Little who won the Tony for his role as Purlie in 1970, rounds out the cast as discrete yet alert Idella Landy, Charlie's childhood nurse and a former slave.
