JESUS PIECE’s highly anticipated album …So Unknown drops in just one month. Now, they’ve shared its atmospheric centerpiece “Silver Lining” which was inspired by vocalist, Aaron Heard’s son. It kicks off with a deceptively clean, eerie minor scale riff, followed by another mid-tempo steamroller just before opening back up into calmness.

MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, the musical inspired by the electrifying true story opens next week and will perform March 21-26, 2023 for a limited 1-week engagement. MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is part of the 22-23 Fifth Third Bank Broadway Series.

The soon-to-open production of the Neil Simon musical Little Me at Manhattan Beach Community Church Theater (MBCC), the longest running theater in the South Bay since 1956, is directed by Paula Kelley with choreography by Angela Asch. Originally scheduled to open in the Spring of 2020, I decided to speak with the director about the production’s three-year delay and how she envisions presenting a musical full of comic vignettes featuring such a large cast, especially since it was written specifically for Sid Caesar to play multiple roles as all the heroine’s husbands and lovers.

Renaissance Theaterworks (RTW) concludes their 30th season with TIDY by Kristin Idaszak, March 24 - April 16, 2023 (Opening Night, March 25 8pm), at the Theater at 255 S. Westport Country Playhouse will present a Script in Hand playreading of Theresa Rebeck's thriller, “Mauritius,” on Monday, March 13, at 7 p.m., directed by the playwright herself. The play's title refers to the island of Mauritius, the origin of two extremely valuable, rare stamps that incite a conflict to gain their possession.

The Impostors Theatre Company (ITC) continues their fourth season with the world premiere of the musical Miranda: A War-Torn Fable, written and composed by ITC ensemble member Dominick Vincent Alesia. Jesus Piece is composed of vocalist Aaron Heard, guitarists David Updike and John Distefano, bassist Anthony Marinaro and drummer Luis Aponte. Formed in Philadelphia in 2015, the band released a trio of EPs (the S/T EP, 3 Song Tape and the Malice at the Palace split) before delivering their 2018 debut LP for Southern Lord Records, Only Self.
