The life and career of Godfather of Soul, James Brown, is the subject of a new musical currently in development.  The show will feature iconic James Brown hits including, “Please, Please, Please,” “Cold Sweat,” “It’s a  Man’s Man’s Man’s World,” “Get Up (I Feel Like Being) Sex Machine,” “The Payback,” “Living in  America,” and more.

The Dance Historian Is In, a monthly series at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, will present a discussion of the early careers of dance legends Frederick Ashton, Agnes de Mille, and Antony Tudor in 1930's England, on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, 1:00-3:00 P.M., at the Library's Bruno Walter Auditorium at Lincoln Center.

For the most part, MTW's brand-new, admirably plucky 2024 production—now on stage through February 25—succeeds as an entertaining, visually cheerful show, filled with strong performances, a rousingly robust orchestra, and dynamic, zestfully tap-tastic dance numbers. Despite its lack of any real, serious stakes, the show itself is still a fun time.
