Broadway's new ROCKY musical plays its final performance at the Winter Garden Theatre today, August 17th, after 28 previews and 188 regular performances. ROCKY received its world premiere in fall 2012 in Hamburg, Germany, where it continues to play to packed houses. The musical opened on Broadway on March, 13, 2014. While the Broadway production of ROCKY is going down for the final count on Sunday, August 17, the show and its bombastic score are continuing to delight audiences on a nightly basis in New York City. Rocky may be on it's way out, with its final performance at the Winter Garden Theatre scheduled for Sunday, August 17th, but some of the show's ensemble cast is just starting to heat up. This Just In... The Broadway musical of Rocky has been knocked out by a declining box office and will play its final performance at the Winter Garden Theatre on Sunday, August 17th after 28 previews and 188 regular performances. Stage Entertainment is currently exploring future productions across the U.S. as well as internationally.

Christopher Barreca won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Scenic Design of a Musical for ROCKY. This is Christopher Barreca's first Tony nomination. His past scenic design work on Broadway includes Search and Destroy, Marie Christine, and The Violet Hour.

'Rocky' is Vasthy's 2nd show this season, after 'Soul Doctor', and her sixth Bway show where she's been in the original company.

Universal Music Enterprises, Stage Entertainment USA, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Sylvester Stallone announced today the forthcoming release of the new original Broadway cast recording of ROCKY, on May 27th, 2014 (UMe). ROCKY has an original score by the Tony® Award-winning team Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Once On This Island), who are the album's producers; additionally the score incorporates the iconic songs 'Eye Of The Tiger' and 'Gonna Fly Now.' The musical, which opened Thursday, March 13th at the historic Winter Garden Theatre, stars Andy Karl as Rocky, Margo Seibert as Adrian (making her Broadway debut), Terence Archie as Apollo Creed and features a superb ensemble.

STARS IN THE ALLEY, presented by United Airlines, was presented earlier this week in Shubert Alley, between Broadway and 8th Avenue and 44th and 45th Streets. To add to the festivities leading up to the Tony Awards, the free outdoor concert in the heart of the Theatre District celebrated Broadway with star appearances and exciting performances from over 20 new shows and long-running favorites, accompanied by a live 12-piece orchestra.
