The 79th Annual Tony Awards are this Sunday, June 7, 2026. It's the biggest awards show of the Broadway season and it closes out a long awards season for Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals and plays. Which Best Musical and Best Play nominees will take home the ultimate prize?

Broadway Sacramento is starting off the new year with a legend. The Lion King, winner of six Tony Awards, is back in town after seventeen years. The show ran for 834 performances at the Ford Center, closing in the final year of the 20th century. It was nominated for 13 Tony Awards, taking home four.

Earlier this morning, the cast of Ragtime, currently running on Broadway at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre, hit the stage on 34th Street to perform at the 99th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Led by Joshua Henry and Nichelle Lewis, the cast performed 'Wheels of a Dream' and the musical's title number. Watch the full performance here.
