Shawnee Mission Park’s “Theatre in the Park,” marks the season with an oddly appropriate July production of “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas.” The item up for view and review is a very nice production of Irving Berlin classic songs and the familiar tale based on a 1954 movie of the same name.  There is significantly more Irving Berlin music in the staged musical than in the 1954 film. 

A World Tour has been announced for LES MISERABLES THE ARENA SPECTACULAR opening with European dates, including limited UK dates from September 2024.

The UK première of Alan Brody's award-winning play Operation Epsilon has been announced. Inspired by actual transcripts that were secretly recorded and then held classified for many decades, Operation Epsilon tells the true story of Germany's ten foremost nuclear scientists who were rounded up and held captive by the British and American forces toward the end of World War II.

What did our critic think of DISNEY'S THE LITTLE MERMAID at The Royal Theatre? The seaweed was definitely greener with The Royal Theatre, 111 S. Market St., in Benton, as they finished out their run of DISNEY’S THE LITTLE MERMAID June 8th-18th. With packed houses during almost every show, this company proved there was plenty of talent “Under the Sea.” 

“Meet Me In St. Louis,” the onstage version of the 1944 film of the same name, is a delightful evening outdoors at Shawnee Mission Park’s Theatre In The Park.  I cannot recall being as pleasantly surprised by a show as I was by this one.  It is a broadly drawn slice of Americana performed by a top-notch cast.  The venue could have been built specifically for this production

Grammy and Academy Award-winning rockstar Melissa Etheridge will debut her acclaimed theatrical event, Melissa Etheridge: My Window on Broadway in a limited nine-week residency at the Circle in the Square Theatre beginning Thursday, September 14, with an official opening night of Thursday, September 28, 2023.

Signature Theatre announces that Signature favorites Awa Sal Secka (Gun and Powder, Blackbeard) and Shayla S. Simmons (After Midnight, Dreamgirls) will perform in Soul Divas Reprise, inspired by the sold-out cabaret from 2019 dedicated to the music of acclaimed musical divas from Aretha to Whitney to Tina. The cabaret will be music directed by Mark G. Meadows, Signature's Director of Cabarets. Soul Divas Reprise runs June 27 – July 9 in Signature's ARK Theatre.

The award-winning Pittsburgh Playhouse at Point Park University, a multi-disciplinary arts and entertainment center located in Downtown Pittsburgh, announced the lineup for their Inside/Outside Summer Concert Series every Thursday and Friday from 4:30 – 6:30pm throughout June and July. Inside/Outside is a casual spot for live entertainment in Downtown Pittsburgh at the Pittsburgh Playhouse's Highmark Theatre opened onto their outdoor plaza on Forbes Avenue.
