Pasadena Playhouse, The State Theater of California offers an exciting line up of educational and community events this spring. 

The smile in question is that of Dame Elizabeth Taylor, Ann Talman's close friend for (almost) all of her life, and her stage mother in THE LITTLE FOXES, and these are their tales.

The buzz on the internet about Sutton Foster playing Marian the Librarian in the latest Music Man revival was polarizing to say the least, but NO ONE can claim that Sutton Foster wasn't born to play Reno Sweeney in the classic Cole Porter musical farce, Anything Goes. Foster won a Tony playing the role on Broadway in 2011, and in 2021, returned to the role at the Barbican Theatre in London, belting out standards like the title number, 'I Get A Kick Out Of You', and the famous list song, 'You're The Top'. Trafalgar Entertainment and Stage2view filmed the cast during the London run and will now air the presentation in American movie theaters for two nights.

Take a trip back in time as Taylor Dayne, Tiffany, and All-4-One bring Our Greatest Hits Tour to the not-for-profit Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts on Thursday, April 14 at 8pm.

Works & Process, the performing arts series at the Guggenheim, will present the world premiere of A Chronicle of a Pivot at a Point in Time by Jamar Roberts, with music by David Watson on March 20 and 21, 2022 at 7:30 pm.

The Musical Theatre Guild will be presenting for one-night only A Sondheim Birthday Celebration Live! Laugh! Love! on Stephen Sondheim’s birthday March 22nd at The El Portal Theatre. Jason Graae hosts the Celebration featuring Musical Theatre Guild members with special guest, Stephen Sondheim veteran Teri Ralston. I got to playfully rouse Teri to reminisce about her decades’ history with Stephen Sondheim.

This May 3, stars of the West End will gather to salute the legacy of the legendary Stephen Sondheim at a gala performance titled, Old Friends.

Actress-singer Sally Kellerman, who achieved worldwide movie fame for her role as Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan in Robert Altman's classic 1970 film “M*A*S*H,” with Donald Sutherland and Elliott Gould, died early this morning (Feb. 24) in her sleep from heart failure at her home in Woodland Hills.  She was 84.  For her iconic role, she was nominated as “Best Supporting Actress” by both the Oscars and Golden Globes.  It was reported by her manager and publicist Alan Eichler.

Opening Thursday, March 3, 2022, the presentation features large paintings on paper and painted papier-mâché sculptures created between 1987 and 1996, complemented by a new monumental, mural-like work executed in black and white.

San Francisco Ballet's remarkable new Program 2 features 3 terrifically enjoyable works, including a new dance by William Forsythe set to the music of James Blake, and Jerome Robbins' rapturously romantic classic 'In the Night.' It runs through February 13th at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco.

The Truth About Love joins new romantic comedies and dramas available on Tubi in February, including “Crazy, Stupid, Love.,” “He’s Just Not That Into You,” “Forever Young,” “William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet,” “500 Days of Summer,” “A Walk to Remember” and more – building upon Tubi’s extensive library of 3,000+ romance titles. 

Portland Center Stage brings the work of one of the most pivotal voices in theater, and a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, to the stage with August Wilson's Gem of the Ocean. Previews begin on March 5, opening night is March 11, and performances run through April 3, 2022, on The Armory's U.S. Bank Main Stage. Tickets are on sale now.

The go-to director for many benefit one-nighters, Tony Spinosa will world premiere his own SINGING REVOLUTION: THE MUSICAL January 15, 2022 on the Broadwater Theatre Main Stage.
