TheatreWorks Silicon Valley continues its 51st season with the hit musical Ragtime. This sweeping and stirring musical masterpiece paints a portrait of America at the dawn of the twentieth century, interweaving the lives of three families—an African American family, a Jewish Immigrant family, and a wealthy white family—finding their places and pursuing the American Dream in a rapidly changing world. Featuring a Tony Award-winning book by Pulitzer Prize finalist Terrence McNally (Master Class, Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Rink) and a Tony Award-winning score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens (Once on This Island, Anastasia, Seussical The Musical), this musical is based on E. On Friday, July 1, 2022, the String Orchestra of Brooklyn (SOB) will release its new album, enfolding, on New Focus Recordings. The album features the world premiere recordings of Scott Wollschleger's Outside Only Sound and Anne Leilehua Lanzilotti's with eyes the color of time, a finalist for the 2022 Pulitzer Prize in Music.

It was announced today that FCP Theatre Group will bring No One Will Be Immune and other plays and pieces, a collection of rarely seen short one-act plays by David Mamet, to the 2022 Hollywood Fringe Festival. The cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Cooper McAdoo, Molly B. Thomas, Elliot White, and Harry White.

Ella Fitzgerald Sings The Irving Berlin Songbook, The First Lady Of Song performed selections from that album live at the Hollywood Bowl. Conducted and arranged by Paul Weston, who also arranged and conducted the studio sessions, this concert marked the only time that Ella performed these iconic arrangements live with a full orchestra.

From May 9-15, Samantha Shay’s short film Mother Melancholia will be available for on-demand viewing via pay what you can, and all funds raised will go towards aiding the Ukrainian people. The film is a multi-layered portrait of four women set to a soundtrack for the end of the world. The Old Globe and University of San Diego Shiley Graduate acting program was created as a result of very few actors being trained in classical theatre. The program nationally recruits seven students each year to participate in an intensive two-year, year-round course of graduate study in classical theatre. It is one of the most competitive programs in the country, with only a 2% acceptance rate.

The American Symphony Orchestra (ASO) continues its 60th anniversary season on Sunday, June 5 with American Masters, a free symphonic concert at Jazz at Lincoln Center featuring the world premiere of Roberto Sierra’s newly commissioned Concerto for Electric Violin performed by acclaimed electric violinist Tracy Silverman. The program will also offer works by three Pulitzer Prize-winning composers: Melinda Wagner, Richard Wernick, and Shulamit Ran.
