On September 18, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., Kimmel Cultural Campus will host a grand reopening event in Commonwealth Plaza to celebrate the start of the 2021-22 season.

On this day in 1994, Grease was the word on Broadway as the show's first revival celebrated its opening night at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. 

The American Theatre Guild has announced the Broadway Is Back In Thousand Oaks Series at the Bank of America Performing Arts Center. This season includes AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN, WAITRESS, SOUTH PACIFIC and SUMMER: The Donna Summer Musical. This season will feature Add On/Swap A Show Option SPAMILTON: An American Parody.

NAATCO will present a virtual reading of Our Town by Thornton Wilder with an all-Asian American cast for one night only, Wednesday May 19th, at 8pm, in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The proceeds of this reading will benefit the company.

The criteria are that these shows have been nominated for Best Musical from the 3rd Tony Awards (the ceremony that started the Best Musical category) in 1949 to the nominations of what will now be the 74th Tony Awards in 2021. I will be determining their signs based upon their Broadway premiere date. With those rules in mind, here we go!

One can tell when someone is playing music mechanically and simply reading notes on a page or if what you are hearing is something greater than that; as if something divine is coming through the performer's soul. With guitarist Sean Harkness, it most certainly is the later. Although quite an accomplished professional composer, arranger and guitarist, Sean's playing has an additional element; the a?oeIta?? factor that is so hard to describe, but you know it when you see or hear it.
