Shute-Pettaway, Wilds Head Cast of ACT 1's Upcoming Production of THE LITTLE FOXES

Helen Olaketi Mariah Shute-Pettaway, a 2011 First Night Honoree and one of Nashville's most revered actresses, will take on the iconic role of Regina Giddens in the ACT 1 production of Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes. Directed by 2014 First Night Honoree Jeffrey Ellis, senior contributing editor for BroadwayWorld.com, The Little Foxes runs at Darkhorse Theatre May 4-19.

Manfred Honeck will return to the New York Philharmonic to conduct Sibelius's Violin Concerto, with Nikolaj Znaider as soloist; Mr. Honeck's own arrangement of Dvorák's Rusalka Fantasy, orchestrated by Tomáš Ille; and selections from Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty, Thursday, May 3, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 4 at 11:00 a.m.; Saturday, May 5 at 8:00 p.m.; and Tuesday, May 8 at 7:30 p.m. The following week, Nikolaj Znaider will make his New York Philharmonic conducting debut leading Elgar's Cello Concerto, with Jian Wang in his subscription debut, and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 1, Winter Dreams, Thursday, May 10, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 11 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, May 12 at 8:00 p.m.

Park ICM Presents 5 World Class Concerts This Spring

Stanislav Ioudenitch, Artistic Director of Park International Center for Music (Park ICM), announced today that their spring season kicks off in March with a world-class European performer never before heard in Kansas City and in one of Kansas City's acoustical gems, the 1900 Building in Mission Woods, Kansas. "We adore performing in the wonderful spaces of the 1900 Building," said Ioudenitch. "Between their 300-seat Parkway Room and their more intimate Rose Hall (75-150), they can accommodate our different needs as both of their halls can be "tuned" according to our performance requirements. It is truly a hidden jewel that is just being discovered in the Kansas City arts public."

The Wiz: The Super Soul Musical is a musical with lyrics and music by Charlie Smalls (and others) and book by William F. Brown. It is a retelling of L. Frank Baum's classic 1900 children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in the context of modern African-American culture. A big-budget movie adaptation (which has gone on to achieve cult status) was released in 1978 starring Diana Ross and Michael Jackson. A live television production, The Wiz, Live! was broadcast on NBC in 2015 to high ratings and critical acclaim.

Due to popular demand, The Left Wing, in association with John Turturro, extends the world premiere production of Brandon Cole's Imperfect Love to February 25. Directed by Michael Di Jiacomo, Imperfect Love is inspired by the tumultuous life of the great Italian actress Eleonora Duse (1858-1924) and her nine-year love affair with the poet and playwright Gabriele D'Annunzio (1863-1938). The production, which is set to open on February 4, runs at The Connelly Theater and features set and costume design by the Academy Award-winning Italian designer Gianni Quaranta (Merchant-Ivory's A Room with a View). Turturro's 1998 film, Illuminata, which was co-written by Cole and Turturro, was based on Cole's Imperfect Love.

THREE SISTERS Comes to Northwest Classical Theatre Collaborative

In its first outing since the critically acclaimed production of Waiting For Godot in 2015, The Northwest Classical Theatre Collaborative returns to the Shoebox Theatre to stage an exciting new adaptation of Anton Chekhov's THREE SISTERS, a classic of modern drama. Adapted and directed by Patrick Walsh, the production boasts a cast of fourteen, including many fresh faces to NWCTC audiences who take a bold approach to Chekhov's masterwork.
