Raven Theatre is pleased to launch its 35th anniversary season with the Chicago premiere of CHOIR BOY, by recent Academy Award winner Tarell Alvin McCraney who, together with writer-director Barry Jenkins, won the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for the Academy's Best Picture winner, Moonlight.  Directed by Artistic Director Michael Menendian, CHOIR BOY will play September 27 - November 12, 2017 in Raven's 120-seat East Stage, 6157 N. This world premiere is based on the musical, One Man Band by Tony and Emmy Award winner Larry Hochman, Marc Elliot, and James Lecesne. The original One Man Band enjoyed a well-received New York run in 1985. Original composers Larry Hochman and Marc Elliot, who is also the show's lyricist, have teamed up with playwright Laurie Hochman, to tell this bittersweet, but ultimately hopeful story of life, love, and loss. Today, Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC) announced two new live music events: An Evening with David Rawlings and Celebrating David Bowie. The acclaimed songwriter and guitarist David Rawlings will bring his all-star band and their rousing live show to Santa Rosa for one night only on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 8 p.m., in support of his latest album, Poor David's Almanack. On Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 8 p.m., Celebrating David Bowie will travel to LBC as part of the global concert series of David Bowie music. IN THE HEIGHTS Closes Moonlight's 37th Season

Moonlight Stage Productions closes its 2017 season with the groundbreaking musical In the Heights, September 13 - 30. With music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and a book by Quiara Alegria Hudes, this Tony Award-winning musical broke new ground as it introduced a new generation of Broadway storytellers. Manuel would later go on to bring his megahit show Hamilton to the stage. In the Heights is full of exhilarating dance with a backdrop of salsa, Latin pop sounds, and frequently rapped lyrics described by the New York Times as "an ear-tickling novelty on Broadway."
