The plot of Operation Mincemeat makes it a truly bizarre choice for a theatrical musical.  During World War II, Britain needed a way to lure the Nazi troops away from Sardinia, which was militarily significant, to the coast of Spain, which wasn’t.  The plan they came up with was preposterous, somewhat gruesome and ultimately successful. The story isn’t wholly unknown–there was a film version in 2021 based on a 2010 book (among other works), but the stage musical version is something rather amazing that this reviewer already wants to see again.

To kick-off the 2026-2027 run of their often Broadway-centric Cabaret Series, Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa tapped not only a proven Broadway star, but an OC native, too for a triumphant homecoming concert: Krysta Rodriguez. Marking her Center cabaret debut, Rodriguez performed to rapturous crowds for three consecutive nights at the Samueli Theater from September 10-12, 2026.

Ivy Crest Theatre Co. has just announced its production of the No Vacancy Series. No Vacancy is a collection of 3 one act plays set in motels throughout the last 50 years. Cabin 12 by John Bishop from the 70s, Motel Story by Alexandra Vassilaros in the 90s and Here Comes the Drone by Arlene Hutton from the 2010’s. A mix of drama and comedy the plays all deal with themes around connection, isolation and identity. Performances of the No Vacancy Series begin Thursday, September 10 for a limited run through September 13 at Urban Stages (259 West 30th Street).

Crow's Theatre has extended its world premiere adaptation of Rohinton Mistry's A FINE BALANCE at the Guloien Theatre in Toronto, following its status as the company's fastest-selling production, with the run already 95% sold.
