Following the holidays, to begin the new year, The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre will present a stage adaptation of one of the most beloved pieces of American literature. Little Women - The Broadway Musical will open January 10th and run through February 22nd, bringing the March sisters to life on the stage at the Frederick venue.

NBC's Writers on the Verge welcomes eight new writers to its 2019-20 class: comedy writers Rishi Chitkara, Shirin Najafi and Min-Woo Park as well as drama writers Andi Delott, Maya Houston, Mitali Jahagirdar, Lira Kellerman and Shani Am. Moore. Chosen from an applicant pool of more than 2,300 submissions, the new class joins the long-tenured initiative for emerging writers of diverse backgrounds.

Holmdel Theatre Company begins its 2019-2020 season with Little Women: The Musical. The show features a book by Alan Knee, lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, and music by Jason Howland. The musical opened on Broadway in 2005 starring Sutton Foster in the lead role of Jo. Little Women ran on Broadway for four months and was nominated for multiple Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Awards.

Broadway audiences last experienced the greatness that is Victoria Clark in the 2015 revival of Gigi, and though it's been almost five years since she last graced the stage, she is keeping plenty busy.

 This 2019/2020 season, the talent performing at The RRazz Room at Mizner Park Cultural Center is a diverse mix of world class artists. The Country Music Association's acclaimed CMA Songwriters Series Presented by   U.S. Bank has announced a performance in Portland, OR at Aladdin Theater Sunday, Dec. 8 featuring top tunesmiths Marcus Hummon, Lori McKenna, Lee Thomas Miller and Tenille Townes. The series hosts an intimate round of performances with some of Country Music's hottest songwriters taking turns sharing the stories behind their hit songs and performing them as originally written. Today, Broadway Records /1650 Records /LOML Records released 'The Right of Way' from Tony-nominated singer Mary Bridget Davies. This is the first track from Stay With Me:  The Reimagined Songs of Jerry Ragovoy, to be released in January 2020. Written by the renowned songwriter, this is the first time the track has been recorded and released. 'The Right of Way' showcases Davies' powerful vocals, honed over many years as Janis Joplin in Love Janis and A Night With Janis Joplin.

 The Hollywood Film Awards announced today that highly-acclaimed artists Antonio Banderas, Renée Zellweger, Al Pacino and Laura Dern will be honored at the 23rd Annual “Hollywood Film Awards.”  Banderas will receive the “Hollywood Actor Award” for his poignant turn in Pedro Almodóvar's 21st film, “Pain and Glory” and Zellweger will receive the “Hollywood Actress Award” for her powerful portrayal of the iconic Judy Garland in Rupert Goold's “Judy.”  Pacino will receive the “Hollywood Supporting Actor Award” for his brilliant depiction of the infamous Jimmy Hoffa in Martin Scorsese's mob masterpiece “The Irishman,” and Dern will receive the “Hollywood Supporting Actress Award” for her commanding performance as a hard-hitting divorce attorney in Noah Baumbach's “Marriage Story.”  Actor and comedian Rob Riggle will host the ceremony, which will take place on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA.

Actor-singer-dancer-choreographer Adam Fleming became a part of Broadway history originating the roles of Sketch in Hairspray and Lucas in Bare. In 2005, he starred in David Brind and Adam Salky's acclaimed short film, Dare, about two teenage boys' tense, spark-filled encounter in a pool following high school play practice. Dare gained a cult following as part of Strand Releasing's 'Boys Life' series and ultimately achieved worldwide popularity via more than 12 Million views on Youtube. The fan fervor (and fan fiction!) eventually inspired a sequel, ten years later. The original and the sequel are now being presented together as The Dare Project and attracting new legions of fans.

With her production of the world première of Anupama Chandrasekhar's When the Crows Visit in rehearsals, Artistic Director Indhu Rubasingham today announces Pass Over, A Museum in Baghdad and The Glee Club which will be staged at Kiln Theatre in 2020, following the previously announced Snowflake by Mike Bartlett.

Native Earth Performing Arts is thrilled to announce the 32nd annual Weesageechak Begins to Dance. BAFTA and Olivier award-winning playwright debbie tucker green's drama about relationships, power and sex tourism will tour for the first time in a new production from East Midlands theatre company New Perspectives. trade is set on a Caribbean island and tells the story of three women, each distinct from the others. As the sun beats down, the drinks are poured for tourists and men flitter in and out of the picture, their three very different stories emerge. On the surface, they have little in common: the youngest is visiting for the first time, another lives here permanently and the last woman is a regular visitor. But despite their apparent differences, it gradually becomes clear their lives are all shaped by the same thing: transactions.
