American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University, in collaboration with the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation and the Belfer Center's Middle East Initiative at Harvard Kennedy School, announces they will co-present a series of post-show discussions with leading artists, journalists, and scholars in conjunction with A.R.T.'s production of We Live in Cairo on topics inspired by the show. Written by brothers Daniel Lazour and Patrick Lazour, We Live in Cairo is inspired by the young Egyptians who took to the streets in 2011 to overthrow President Hosni Mubarak.

 Point Park University's award-winning Pittsburgh Playhouse is pleased to announce its 2019 - 2020 season which features a compelling lineup of new and classic works, including the Tony Award-winning musical Parade directed by Tony Award-winning alumnus Rob Ashford, the world premiere musical Pump Up the Volume, and the Off-Broadway hit, Good Grief. The season runs from Oct. 10, 2019 - May 7, 2020.

Two-time Tony-winning actress, singer and dancer Sutton Foster extends her Cafe Carlyle run, June 25-29. She'll also be performing June 11-22. Regarded as one of the most important American composers living today, Joan Tower will join Bloomingdale School of Music faculty members violinist Claudia Schaer, bassoonist Gili Sharett and pianist Marc Peloquin in a celebration of her birthday and a tribute to her unique and beautiful artistry. Joan Tower has made lasting contributions to musical life for the past half century. With her iconic Silver Ladders, she was the first woman to win the prestigious Grawemeyer Award, and the recording of her Made In America won three different Grammy awards.

The Village Playwrights meet the second and fourth Thursday of the month from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.  Everyone is welcome. $5 suggested donation.

Then get yourself over to The Washington Pavilion for the last two performances of Monty Python's SPAMALOT. This show will have you laughing from beginning to end and have you looking on the brighter side of life! Eric Idle (book, music, and lyrics) and John Du Prez (music) take the jokes everyone knows and loves from the original screenplay of Monty Python and The Holy Grail movie and add a uniquely Broadway flair to the classic story.

Taking us back to a world of hideous stonewashed denim, huge hair and even bigger rock anthems, Rock of Agesis on a new national tour. The jukebox musical has been doing the rounds since it first appeared in Hollywood in 2005, but this particular version shows that it has not aged well. The paper-thin plot focuses on sweet Southern gal Sherrie arriving in LA's bright lights. Here she meets the sweet and clean-cut Drew at the Bourbon Club. With the threatened demolition of the club as a background, Sheree is drawn into the murky LA underworld where she ends up working in a strip club. After various misunderstandings, the show concludes with a vaguely happy ending; so far, so predictable.

Ifa Bayeza's (lower case titled) benevolence, the second play in her trilogy revolving around Emmett Till, the 14 year old Chicago boy brutally murdered in the Mississippi Delta in 1955, is hard to watch. It's also important, because it takes us beyond what we think we know to detail the aftermath of Till's violent death on two couples, one white, one black, all real historical figures. Penumbra Theatre in Saint Paul is mounting the world premiere under Talvin Wilks' direction.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast and creative team for Metamorphoses. This co-production with the Guthrie Theater is led by nationally and internationally renowned writer and director Mary Zimmerman.

On this day in 2005, a musical adaptation of the classic novel Little Women landed on Broadway, starring Tony Award-winner Sutton Foster as the fearless authoress, Jo March.

Sundance Institute will gather 20 celebrated and revered expert voices across film, art, culture and science to award feature-length and short films shown at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival with 12 prizes, announced at a ceremony February 2 that will be livestreamed at sundance.org and on YouTube. Short Film Awards will be announced at a separate ceremony on January 29 and will also be livestreamed. The Festival takes place January 24 through February 3 in Park City, Salt Lake City and Sundance, Utah.
