Gloucester Stage Company continues its 40th Anniversary Season of professional theater with the Boston area premiere of Richard Strand's Ben Butler from August 2 through August 25 at Gloucester Stage Company, 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. Richard Strand's Ben Butler, a smart and funny discourse on race, protocol and our sense of humanity garnered high critical acclaim during its Off Broadway run in 2016. New York's Joseph Discher who helmed the show's world premiere production in 2014 and the Off Broadway production in 2016, makes his GSC debut directing Ben Butler. Actors Ames Adamson as General Benjamin Butler and Shane Taylor as escaped slave Shepard Mallory make their GSC debut in Ben Butler. Jacob's Pillow presents the highly-anticipated world premiere of THE DAY, featuring world renowned cellist Maya Beiser and legendary dancer Wendy Whelan with choreography by the groundbreaking postmodern dance artist Lucinda Childs and music by Pulitzer Prize-winning David Lang in the Doris Duke Theatre, July 31-Aug 4. Second Stage Theater has announced complete casting for the Broadway production of Tracy Letts's Linda Vista. The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce the appointment Shantanique Moore, flutist, as the next recipient of the symphony's two-year fellowship designed to enable one young African American musician the ability to dedicate him or herself to the pursuit of an orchestral career. Quintet of the Americas, Queens' renowned woodwind quintet, will present an evening of new music, including Mexican composer Arturo Marquez's Danza de mediodia, Brazilian-American composer Ricardo Romaneiro's minimalist piece Ventos, Xinyan Li's Mo Suo's Burial Ceremony, Valerie Coleman's Tzigane and Owl City's Fireflies.

It was just announced by Pulitzer Prize Administrator Dana Canedy that Jackie Sibblies Drury's Fairview has officially won the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts announced today that the Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center (THPAC) has donated its archives to the Library.
