Given that they don't come around all that often, the announcement of a new collection of Adam Carroll songs is always cause for a certain amount of celebration by discerning aficionados of quality Americana music. Mind, nothing too showy or over-the-top, because that would be at odds with the whole modestly unassuming and quietly impactful nature that's long been such a key part of Carroll's charm - but a celebration just the same, as is warranted any time the world is gifted a new album by the artist who, in the estimation of none other than Jon Dee Graham, 'may be the best songwriter that Texas ever produced.'

The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today unveiled its feature film lineup. Continuing its tradition of elevating exceptional storytelling rooted in today's global film communities, the 18th annual Festival will showcase debut works from emerging talent and new works from notable filmmakers. The New York debut of the DryWrite and Soho Theatre production of FLEABAG, produced by Annapurna Theatre, begins performances tomorrow, February 27, ahead of a March 7 opening at Soho Playhouse (15 Vandam St.). FLEABAG is written and performed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, making her New York stage debut, and directed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge's long-time collaborator Vicky Jones. Bootycandy, Bootycandy Bootycandy! There! I've said it three times and a zombie hasn't appeared but the brilliantly written play by Robert O'Hara has made its appearance in H-town! BOOTYCANDY had its world premiere at the Woolly Mammoth Theatre June of 2011 in Washington D.C. and then it made its way to New York City at Playwrights Horizons in August 2014. Let's just say that the institution of the black theatre was changed and every audience that has witnessed this piece of work has been ever changed! Including me!
