This Memorial Day Weekend, Eric Firestone Gallery unveils Hanging / Leaning: Women Artists on Long Island, 1960s–80s, a sweeping two-part exhibition celebrating the formal ingenuity of postwar women artists with connections to the East End of Long Island.

From May 9-15, Samantha Shay’s short film Mother Melancholia will be available for on-demand viewing via pay what you can, and all funds raised will go towards aiding the Ukrainian people. The film is a multi-layered portrait of four women set to a soundtrack for the end of the world. CLO's modern twist on the Lewis Carrol classic Alice's Adventures in Wonderland takes audiences on an interactive journey down a whimsical rabbit hole.

CLO’s modern twist on the Lewis Carrol classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland takes audiences on an interactive journey down a whimsical rabbit hole. Inspired by similar immersive experiences (Sleep No More, Van Gogh), CLO offers audiences a chance to engage in a fantastical Wonderland through a combination of live operatic performances, kaleidoscopic digital landscapes, and a wacky array of costumes and props. 

The second ACA Cinema Project series will present Flash Forward: Debut Works and Recent Films by Notable Japanese Directors, a hybrid program with 18 films streaming nationwide on Japan Society's Virtual Cinema from December 3-23, 2021 and two in-person screenings in Japan Society's auditorium on December 11 and 17.

Robert Battle, Artistic Director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, announced today that internationally renowned performer, choreographer, director, and multi-disciplinary artist Francesca Harper has been appointed Artistic Director of Ailey II, the Ailey organization's acclaimed company of young dancers. Last night, PEN America spotlighted diverse voices and bestowed $330,000 of transformative support to writers and translators at the 2020 PEN America Literary Awards, hosted by Late Night's Seth Meyers at The Town Hall, the biggest venue in the Awards program's 56-year history. The show demonstrated the evolution of the Awards in recent years from a modest auditorium event for winners and their families into a preeminent gathering of writers and publishing luminaries, stars of the stage and screen, and passionate book lovers-or, as Meyers referred to it, 'The Oscars for books.'
