The Guido Cantelli International Conducting Competition Comes Back To Life

After a forty-year absence, and to celebrate one hundred years since the birth of Guido Cantelli - the great conductor from Novara - the Conducting Competition that was created in his memory comes to life again and takes on a strong international connotation while focusing on the younger generations. The competition has its natural home in the Teatro Coccia of Novara in Italy. Registrations for the Competition will open from 1 March to 30 April 2020: conductors of all nationalities, between the age of 18 and 35 will be eligible to participate. Candidates will undergo a preselection based on their CVs and video recordings. From 9 to 12 September the finalists will fulfill the competition's assignments from the podium of the Orchestra del Teatro Regio in Turin and will be examined by a jury made of internationally renowned artists and cultural personalities. The second and last round of the finals will take place in Novara on 13 September. 

GRAMMY Museum Presents 'This Is Nat King Cole'

GRAMMY® winner Nat King Cole is one of the most honored and iconic performing and recording artists of all time. To showcase the Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient's professional and personal achievements, the GRAMMY Museum® proudly presents This Is Nat King Cole, which will bookend his centennial celebration. The exhibit will open on, what would have been, Cole's 101st birthday, March 17, 2020, when Cole's daughters, Timolin and Casey Cole, will discuss the stories behind the exhibit with moderator Scott Goldman at the Museum's Clive Davis Theater. The exhibit will run through summer 2020.

The Winter Gardens Blackpool and Mark Goucher announced today that Shirley Ballas will star as The Fairy Godmother in Blackpool's biggest ever family pantomime, CINDERELLA, at the Opera House Blackpool from Sunday 13 December to Sunday 3 January 2021. Tickets on sale now with further star casting to be announced soon. Shirley will not be performing on Saturday 19 December 2020 due to Strictly Come Dancing commitments.

Houston Symphony Announces 2020–21 Season

Houston Symphony Music Director Andrés Orozco-Estrada and CEO/Executive Director John Mangum, holder of the Margaret Alkek Williams Chair, announced the details of the 2020a?"21 season, Orozco-Estrada's seventh as music director. Orozco-Estrada and the Houston Symphony enter the next decade of music-making with works by Beethoven, in honor of his  250th birthday celebration; new music from contemporary composers; Symphony Specials with pianists Lang Lang and Leif Ove Andsnes; solo performances from Concertmaster Yoonshin Song and other Houston Symphony musicians; and a new, three-year Artistic Partnership with legendary violinist Itzhak Perlman.
