To mark its golden anniversary year, the Audelco Award-winning Black Spectrum Theatre Company (BSTC) today announced details for its 50th anniversary season comprised of a series of special programs highlighting African-American achievements in film, theater, literature and music. Zachery Allan Starkey has released 'XXX', the second single and video off of his forthcoming album, FEAR CITY. Composed, performed, and produced by Starkey, 'XXX ' is a symphonic Techno odyssey that plunges the listener deep into the pure hedonistic ecstasy of New York City nightlife, taking them on a sensual journey from the heart of the dance floor to the pleasure and climax that only the neon lit city of night can offer. Using analogue synthesizers and intricate arrangements, Starkey creates a throbbing, pulsing arpeggiated Techno bass line, then adds soaring lead melodies and pounding drums and percussion (inspired by the sound of the New York subway system), creating a a dynamic club track that brings to mind the best work of electronic pioneers Giorgio Moroder and Patrick Cowley, whilst pushing the track firmly into the future.

CHUCK BERRY: BROWN EYED HANDSOME MAN is a collection of performances by the greatest rock icons in history performing favorite songs by their self-proclaimed hero Chuck Berry. A historic record of the decades-long and continuing impact of the father of rock-'n'-roll, the program presents — for the first and possibly only time ever — full performances from the legends of rock music honoring the man they agree started it all. Artists include The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Jimi Hendrix, Tom Petty, Linda Ronstadt, Jeff Lynne and more, filmed at the heights of their own careers, performing the work of Chuck Berry. BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that actor John Karlen passed away earlier today at age 86 of congestive heart failure in hospice care in Burbank, California.

Bailey Contemporary Arts (BaCA) presents Building a Feminist Archive: Cuban Women Photographers in the US; an exhibition that features ten women artists whose works in photography provide a glimpse into diverse histories of migration, community, activism and resistance. The Tiffin Bay Folk Club at Midland Cultural Centre will welcome back master guitarist, singer and songwriter, Archie Fisher in their 'Legends of Folk' concert series.
