Jesus Christ Superstar opened at the Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday March 21st. The groundbreaking Andrew Lloyd Webber musical first opened in 1971 and has been rocking theatre since. The musical is roughly based on the Gospel’s accounts of the events leading up the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Underwritten by the National Endowment for the Arts and Arts Midwest Shakespeare in American Communities Grant, The Tempest, directed by Quintessence Artistic Director Alexander Burns is now extended through April 2.

The first openly LGBTQ play ever produced here in Oregon was in 1971 at PSU – the play was Boys In The Band.

The winners of the 51st George and Nora London Foundation Competition for young American and Canadian opera singers, one of the opera world's oldest and most prestigious competitions, were announced at the conclusion of the competition's final round this evening, which took place at Gilder Lehrman Hall at The Morgan Library & Museum in New York City. The event took place before an in-person audience for the first time since 2020, and was also livestreamed.
