In October 1938, Orson Wells broadcast a radio adaptation of H.G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds. He converted the story of alien invasion into a series of dramatic news bulletins, which inadvertently inspired mass panic across America. This incident is seen by some as the original source of ‘fake news’. First seen in 2019, physical theatre duo Rhum + Clay’s clever adaptation now lands in the Rose Theatre this week as part of a new tour.

As those lines were read by the “stranger” during the first Zoom rehearsal for The War of the Worlds, director Matt Ripa, M.F.A. 2008, looked into his computer screen at his student actors. “You could see the hint of familiarity come across their faces,” he recalls. “It hit home.”

Main Street Theatre Works (MSTW) is recreating this radio classic with their live production of War of the Worlds, October 24th at 7:00pm, broadcast on their Facebook page (Main Street Theatre Works), and a radio simulcast on KVGC Radio 1340AM, or 96.5 FM, in Amador county.

Theatre in the Dark, a Chicago company that creates performances staged entirely in complete darkness, will mount as its second production a world premiere adaptation of the classic science-fiction thriller A WAR OF THE WORLDS (based on H.G. The Kimmel Center Cultural Campus, along with Resident Company support from Philadelphia Chamber Music Society and The Philadelphia Orchestra, celebrates Women's History Month in March 2020 with an array of programming honoring a breadth of female artistry and expression. Pasadena Playhouse Producing Artistic Director Danny Feldman has announced the on -sale of tickets for the Los Angeles premiere of Ann - written by and starring Holland Taylor and directed by Benjamin Endsley Klein from May 27 to June 28, 2020, and a new production of Irving Berlin's Annie Get Your Gun with book by Herbert and Dorothy Fields, directed by Sarna Lapine, from July 28-August 23, 2020.

From January 10-14, the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic and Music Director Giancarlo Guerrero will perform five concerts in four cities in Florida -- Ft. Myers, Gainesville, Daytona Beach and West Palm Beach -- as part of the Polish orchestra's twelve-city US tour this month. The tour also includes stops in Chicago, Indianapolis, Nashville and throughout California.

This winter, the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic embarks on a twelve-city US tour with conductor Giancarlo Guerrero, Music Director of the Polish orchestra since 2017. This tour is the first time the orchestra has toured the United States since 2012. Throughout the tour, the orchestra will perform works of Polish composers from across generations, including Frederic Chopin, Karol Szymanowski and Witold Lutosławski, an original patron of the National Forum of Music (NFM) in Wrocław. Johannes Brahms, a composer with close ties to Wrocław will also be represented on tour along with other Central European composers Antonin Dvořák and Béla Bartók.
