As reported last night, it's now official that Caroline, Or Change, the celebrated musical written by Tony Kushner, author of Angels in America, with a soaring score from Tony Award-winning Jeanine Tesori, will transfer into the West End's Playhouse Theatre from 20 November 2018 to 9 February 2019.

Six-hundred-fifty hopefuls auditioned for the 49th annual five-production 'Theatre In The Park' outdoor season. The 2018 season features, 'The Little Mermaid' June 8-16, 'South Pacific' June 22-30, 'Into the Woods' July 6-14, 'The Adams Family' July 20-28, and 'High School Musical August 3-11. A combined cast of over two hundred community actors, singers, and dancers will perform plus an expanded number of volunteers, musicians, creative staff, set builders, and administrative personnel.

The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts announces the cast for its upcoming production of Blues in the Night. Conceived and directed by Sheldon Epps, the production will feature Yvette Cason (Shout Sister Shout, Broadway and film versions of Dreamgirls), Bryce Charles (The Book of Mormon, ABC's "Black-ish"), Paulette Ivory (Disney's Aida and the West End premieres of The Lion King and Blues in the Night) and Chester Gregory (Broadway's Motown: The Musical, Hairspray and Sister Act). Blues in the Night will begin performances April 27 through May 20 in the Lovelace Studio Theater.

It was announced today that due to continued popular demand, off-Broadway's Sweeney Todd will extend through August 26, 2018. Alec Baldwin and Kelli O'Hara will star in Westport Country Playhouse's Spring Gala performance of A. R. Gurney's play, 'Love Letters,' on Thursday, April 12, at 7 p.m. The one-night-only, $250 per ticket fundraising event will honor the memory of playwright A. R. 'Pete' Gurney, who was a consistent contributor to the Playhouse stage, with 21 works produced there from 1980 through 2016. Gurney died last June at age 86.

Based on Victor Hugo's 1862 novel of the same name, Les Miserables tells the story of an ex-convict who after serving nineteen years in prison for stealing a loaf of bread, goes on a quest for redemption. When a kind bishop inspires him by a tremendous act of mercy, the ex-convict known as Jean Valjean breaks his parole as he decides to start his life anew. As time goes on, Valjean has relentlessly been pursued by a ruthless police inspector, hoping to bring him to justice. To reach an expanded audience, The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc. (NEC) will re-mount its 2017 revival of 'A Soldier's Play' by Charles Fuller, directed by Charles Weldon, from February 14 to March 4, 2018 at Gene Frankel Theatre, 24 Bond Street. The piece is historically NEC's most famous and successful play. It was produced last fall at Theatre 80 St. Marks as the culminating event of NEC's landmark 50th season, playing to full houses and glowing notices. The cast of that revival will return intact for the Gene Frankel Theatre run.
