SiriusXM announced today that the iconic and acclaimed American rock and roll trio, The Stray Cats, will perform an intimate invitation-only show for SiriusXM subscribers on Friday, August 2 near the band's hometown of Massapequa, New York on Long Island, where they first formed in 1979. This performance--which will kick-start their much-anticipated 40th anniversary U.S. tour--marks the first time the trio will take the stage at Revolution Bar & Grill for a show after unsuccessfully auditioning at the venue 40 years ago.

Grammy Award-nominated folk-rock singer-songwriter Steve Forbert brings his band, the New Renditions, and his distinctive folk-rock sound to Club Helsinki Hudson on Thursday, July 18, at 8pm. Best known for hit songs 'Romeo's Tune' and 'Goin' Down to Laurel,' Forbert was touted as a 'new Dylan' when he burst upon the scene in downtown New York in the mid-1970s.

Las Vegas is filled with ghosts and spirits (not the kind you drink). Paranormal specialist William Draven, who is also a trained magician and illusionist, is ready to take the audience on a paranormal simulation in Myth: Legends of the Artisan at the Artisan Las Vegas.

It could have been dubbed a?oeChita Rivera's Dance Salona?? for the presenters, attendees and honorees read like a Who's Who of Chita's friends, fans and fellow Fosse favorites, including hosts Ben Vereen and Anne Reinking.

Directed by Geordie Broadwater, the production stars Chris Henry Coffey (Broadway's Bronx Bombers, David Schwimmer's Trust opposite Clive Owen and Viola Davis), Christine Bruno (Jose Rivera's adaption of The Maids, Bekah Brunstetter's Forgotten Corners of Your Dark, Dark Place with TBTB) and newcomer Anna Lentz in her Off-Broadway debut. The play is the second part of a trilogy of plays by Brunstetter that kicked off with The Cake in February at Manhattan Theatre Club. Previews for PUBLIC SERVANT begin May 25 at Theatre Row's Clurman Theatre with opening night on Thursday, June 6.

Four Chords and a Gun is an intense black comedy about the infamous punk band the Ramones written by John Ross Bowie (“The Big Bang Theory”, “Speechless”). The play reveals the drama-filled 1979 recording session that led to The Ramones album, End of the Century, produced by the eccentric gun wielding Phil Spector. The Canadian premier of this sometimes funny, sometimes wrenching, always gritty, story of how the world's greatest Punk album came to be is directed by long-time Toronto Star theatre critic and Stratford Festival director Richard Ouzounian. Hey Ho Let's Go! to a play about the Ramones followed by a concert. Not a f***ing musical.

The West End and Broadway musical Song & Dance has taken up a lot of space in my CD collection. In addition to the Original London Cast Recording starring Marti Webb (recorded live at the Palace Theatre in 1982), the 1984 British television broadcast from the stage of recently closed production at the Palace starring Sarah Brightman and the Original Broadway Cast Recording (of just the songs half, no dance music...) starring Bernadette Peters, I'm also including the original 1979 'Tell Me on a Sunday' album starring Marti Webb in her first stab at the material, from which the sung portion of Song & Dance was derived, as well as its 2003 London production starring Denise Van Outen.

Los Angeles Theatre Community staple, director Jon Lawrence Rivera will be previewing his latest directorial Open Fist project ANNA IN THE TROPICS April 26, 2019 at the Atwater Village Theatre, even before his previous directorial Playwrights Arena's SOUTHERNMOST closes (also at the Atwater Village Theatre). Jon managed to squeeze some time for me between his masterful juggling of his two productions.
