A synopsis of “Annie” on the Broadway in Hollywood website describes this touring production as arriving 'just when we need it most.' By the end of the musical, that tagline doesn’t feel very accurate. Annie’s positive attitude is certainly inspiring, but it only works within a well-executed show, and this unfortunately fails to deliver.

Hazel Vogel is exceptional as Annie. From the very first moment that she opened her mouth, it was clear she is a star in the making. She oozes the optimism and hope that fans have come to accept from the character, and it was an absolute joy to watch her commanding stage presence throughout the entire show.
