Skylight Music Theatre Announces Cast and Creative for RUDDIGORE, OR THE WITCH'S CURSE

Skylight Music Theatre today announced the cast and creative team for Ruddigore, or The Witch's Curse, presented January 3-19, 2020 in collaboration with Milwaukee Opera Theatre. Skylight celebrates its long history of producing the works of W.S. Gilbert (book and lyrics) and Arthur Sullivan (music) with an imaginatively reinvigorated production of this classic gothic operetta. Ruddigore will be performed in a special, limited run in the Studio Theatre at the Broadway Theatre Center, 158 N. Broadway, in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward.

Tom Wopat Returns to the Beach Cafe For One Night Only Christmas Concert

TOM WOPAT will return to The Beach Café (1326 Second Avenue) on Monday, December 30 at 9:00 PM for a special Christmas concert. Coming on the heels of his five-week residency at the venue this fall, the evening will feature seasonal classics and holiday hits, including highlights from his recent album Home for Christmas. Wopat will be joined by his longtime music director Tedd Firth on piano, in addition to Peter Grant on drums, and Ed Howard on bass, with Wopat himself featured on guitar.

Tom Wopat will headline a?oeWednesdays with Wopat,a?? a five-week residency at The Beach Café (1326 Second Avenue), starting on Wednesday, October 23 at 8:30 PM.  The first evening will focus on jazz standards, followed by shows of Sinatra classics (October 30), Broadway hits (November 6), singer/songwriter ballads (November 13), and a night featuring highlights of the run (November 20).

LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST Final Three Performances This Weekend At Gene Frankel Theatre

Thomas G. Waites' rocking adaptation of one of Shakespeare's rarely-performed comedies will play its final three performances this weekend. The hippie lovefest of this re-worked Love's Labour's Lost continues at the Gene Frankel Theatre (24 Bond Street, between Lafayette and Bowery) from October 24-26 at 8pm. The production, featuring a cast full of bright young talent, is made possible with the generous support of The Jeff Hunter Charitable Trust. Somewhere among the cards and letters, photographs and souvenirs from my misspent youth is a picture (circa 1978) of me clad in a powder blue tuxedo, with a ruffled-front shirt edged in the same hue, all capped off by an impossibly wide bow tie to match a?" my costume to serve as a groomsman in the wedding of two friends. That image has been prominent in my mind for the past 12 hours after experiencing déjà vu of a particular sort, thanks to a rousing, rollicking and downright rocking production of The Wedding Singer, the latest offering at Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre, which opened last night and continues through October 19 at the venerable Nashville venue.

More than 450 guests were starstruck at Goodman Theatre's May 18 Spring Gala, headlined by Broadway star and Tony Award nominee Megan Hilty. The black-tie event, held at the Fairmont Chicago, raised more than $800,000 to support the theater's Education and Community Engagement programs.
