Fifteen Area Schools Awarded Grants For Arts Education Projects

The Arts and Education Council (A&E) and Maritz have awarded 15 area schools with grants to support classroom-based art projects during the 2018-19 academic year. The program, administered by A&E, is funded by a $25,000 gift from Maritz with additional support provided by individual donors. With these 15 grants, this unique partnership between A&E and Maritz has generated nearly a quarter of A Million Dollars for art education across the bi-state region since 2009. (more...)

Ford's Theatre Society announced that the company of the 2018 production of "A Christmas Carol" has selected D.C.'s Homeless Children's Playtime Project as recipient of this year's donation drive inspired by the themes of charity in Dickens's holiday classic. The Homeless Children's Playtime Project partners with homeless shelters in Washington, D.C., to create safe and fun play spaces for the children where they live. Their trauma-informed programs help restore normalcy by providing opportunities for children to learn and heal through play, and empower children to make choices, express themselves, build friendships and find support. Montalvo Arts Center Raises More Than Half A Million At Annual Gala

From acrobats to can-can dancers Montalvo Arts Center's historical Villa and grounds were transformed into the iconic Parisian night club Moulin Rouge for its biennial fundraising gala, Moulin Montalvo: A Gala Night in Montmartre on June 16. The event broke all previous fundraising records, collecting more than half A Million Dollars for the arts organization. The evening included live entertainment, an array of sumptuous cuisine by Le Papillon paired with Champagne Taittinger and French wines, plus a high-spirited live auction. Each recipient was nominated by one of Lincoln Center's eleven resident organizations, acknowledging their extraordinary talent and promising career.
