Australian cabaret performer Kim David Smith salutes the perennial pop goddess, Kylie Minogue with an intimately fabulous cabaret-fantasia, celebrating Kylie's catalogue of gargantuan hits and glittering deep cuts, from 1987's 'Locomotion," all the way through to 2018's "Golden." Labeled the "male Marlene Dietrich" by the New York Times, Smith deconstructs three decades of Minogue dance anthems with music direction by the multi-MAC Award winning Tracy Stark, and with costumes by Miodrag Guberinic (Katy Perry, Madonna, Nicki Minaj)

JIM BORAX'S CALIFORNIA CABARET is a hidden gem. It consists mostly of standards from the Great American Songbook, sung by Broadway-quality performers. There are also dancing and audience participation sing-alongs.

Broadway Records announces that Anastasia (Original Broadway Cast Recording) will be released on vinyl on December 14, 2018. The special edition vinyl set will be available in the US with a retail exclusive at Barnes & Noble and bn.com. It will also be available via BroadwayRecords.com, and to audience members at the merchandise stands of Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre. Three Tales by Steve Reich, with visuals by Beryl Korot, will open the Long Beach Opera's 40th Anniversary Season, for two performances Saturday, November 3 at 6pm and Sunday, November 4 at 2:30pm at the Ernest Borgnine Theater, Scottish Rite Event Center, in Long Beach, CA.  The production is sung in English, and is conducted by Andreas Mitisek. Three Tales will serve as the centerpiece to Long Beach Opera's 40th anniversary Gala, which will take place following the performance on November 3rd.

The play examines his loveless marriage and lack of appetite for the political machinations that would eventually result in his election.

Art is alive and thriving in Oakland County with Meadow Brook Theatre, Michigan's largest producing professional theatre located on Oakland University's campus in Rochester. The theatre operates as a non-profit and employs a staff of over 40 local artists. Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts' Live & Local Fridays concert series opens on Sept. 7 and showcases eight Arizona groups spanning rockabilly-honky tonk, indie-folk, African rhythms, blues, hip-hop, folk-rock, jazz, indie-rock and pop on Friday evenings through Sept. 28.

Renowned music conservatory Manhattan School of Music (MSM) is celebrating its Centennial during the 2018-19 season with performances and events that draw inspiration from its rich 100-year history of music-making and education.

For the past several summers, I have attended the Festival of Arts and The Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach. But this year, I also decided to also visit two other art festivals along Laguna Canyon Road rather than spend any time cruising the town as I had done before. The full-day of exploring all the artistic delights on display this year at all three locations left me dazzled by all the talent on display, while wishing I had lot of extra income to purchase and bring home many of the awe-inspiring items that caught my fancy. But the real highlight of the day was viewing the abundance of 'local color' on display in this summer's 'Under the Sun' themed Pageant of the Masters.

There's something about summer entertainment -- light, frothy, happy shows that feel just like the season. A summer musical that takes place on a Greek island built around infectious tunes from the 1970s? Don't mind if I do... And a double dose in the same weekend? Sign me up! I hit up the Ordway's MAMMA MIA! on Friday night and then 'Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!' (the new film sequel) on Sunday night and had the tunes used in both stamped on my brain for two weeks straight. And I didn't mind a bit. MAMMA MIA! is hard not to love, which is likely why both the stage show and film were such mega hits, the former spawning a 'jukebox musical' wave of Broadway.

Aspire Performing Arts Company is taking it back to the 1920's jazz era with its upcoming production of the Thoroughly Modern Millie, kicking up its heels from July 20-22 at the Barn Theatre in Montville, NJ.
