The Astoria Performing Arts Center (APAC), recipient of the 2012 Caffe Cino Fellowship Award from the Innovative Theatre Foundation, is pleased to announce their 15th season which will include a world premiere play by Cheryl L. Davis (2014 AUDELCO Playwriting Award winner for Maid's Door), CAREFULLY TAUGHT, directed by Pat Golden (Assistant Director on Emily Mann's Broadway production of A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams), and the award-winning musical THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, directed by APAC Artistic Director Dev Bondarin (APAC's IT Award Nominated In The Bones and Merrily We Roll Along). Additionally, Bondarin is introducing a new program of works based on the Astoria community, called ASTORIA STORIES. APAC's performance venue is located at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 30-44 Crescent St (@30th Rd), in Astoria, Queens.

Inside a storage unit in downtown Miami, a Latin woman teaches 'un Americano' how to dance salsa, and, more importantly, what it means to lead. This isn't some clandestine meeting or a glimpse at illegal storage-container-living -- this is Salsa, a fifteen minute short by Glenn Hutchinson, smartly directed by Ivan R. Lopez and eloquently performed by Hutchinson himself, and Evelyn Perez. Salsa is part of Miami's newest sensation -- 'micro teatro' or 'micro theater' -- an experiment in theater going.

To lead off its 66th consecutive season, the Hudson Players Club (HPC), Quebec's longest running community theatre troupe, is breaking new ground with the launch of the Eat Our Shorts! Play Festival, a week-long cavalcade of short plays. Four different companies comprised of local artists will present a range of exciting plays from November 26th to 30th at the charming theatre in the former train station in Hudson (28 Wharf Road, Hudson QC J0P 1H0). First Run is proud to announce we are accepting short play submissions for the Spectrum 2010 Festival. Spectrum is a festival of short plays to be performed in October of 2010. We will accept plays on all subject matters but First Run is also using Spectrum as its contribution to Shakespeare Festival of St. Louis' Gateway to Shakespeare. Though not required, we would especially encourage any play about Shakespeare, Elizabethan theatre, Elizabethan times or theatre in general.

Ten playwrights have won the New York Community Trust Helen Merrill Playwright Awards, honoring established and emerging writers for the theater. The winners are currently producing work on topics ranging from basement dwelling families in the middle of the 21st century to the 19th century all-black community that faced destruction in order to create Central Park.
