Review: HOLIDAY at Washington's Arena Stage: Deeply Flawed Show, Flawless Performance
by Jack L. B. Gohn - Oct 17, 2022

They sure don't write them like Holiday anymore. A play about the foibles of a family of rich White people that supplies no meaningful social or racial context, a critique of the world of wealth which is bafflingly superficial, and a romance almost lacking in visible courtship, playwright Philip Barry's 1928 Broadway hit has very little claim to be produced now. Yet it's given a sumptuous and impressive production by Arena Stage in Washington. Go for the performances, the costumes, and the direction, and you'll be fine. Seek more, and you may be disappointed.

BWW Review: AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' THE FATS WALLER MUSICAL SHOW at Candlelight Music Theatre
by Greer Firestone - Aug 9, 2021

Ain’t Misbehavin’: The Fats Waller Musical Show, is a different juke box show from Candlelight’s previous production of BEEHIVE. From the rock n’ roll of 60’s we time travel back 30- years to the American jazz pianist Waller. His innovations in the Harlem stride style laid the groundwork for modern jazz piano. In 1922, at the tender age of 18, he produced his first piano roll, “Got To Cool My Doggies Now.” (I had to mention that only because the title cracked me up).

Little Theatre of Virginia Beach Presents IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE: A RADIO PLAY
by A.A. Cristi - Dec 23, 2020

'Every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings' is one of the most memorable quotes from the holiday classic film 'It's a Wonderful Life,' but Little Theatre of Virginia Beach brings us more sound effects than just a bell in their production of the radio play version. Foley artists create all the sounds of 1940s Bedford Falls, just like it was done when radio was the center of family entertainment in the home. Instead of huddling around a radio, families turn to a smart TV, computer, or mobile device for the story of the life of George Bailey and his fateful Christmas Eve encounter.
