t Recordings has announced the release of The Savoy 10-Inch LP Collection, which spotlights Charlie Parker's groundbreaking bebop sessions for the legendary jazz label, spanning 1944 to 1948. The deluxe, four-LP box set-also available digitally-features newly restored and remastered audio, faithfully reproduced artwork from the original 10-inch albums, plus a booklet containing vintage photos, rare ephemera and new liner notes from GRAMMY® Award-winning journalist and author Neil Tesser. These historic recordings, reissued as the world celebrates the 100th anniversary of Parker's birth, feature such jazz greats as Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, John Lewis, Bud Powell and Max Roach. Set for a February 28th release date, The Savoy 10-Inch LP Collection is available for pre-order today (1/8), while the instant grat single, 'Ko-Ko,' can now be streamed or downloaded on all major digital outlets. 'Ko-Ko' was one of Bird's early masterpieces and his first recording as a leader. Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota ramps up the holiday with Harmony for the Holidays, featuring the sweet-toned harmonies and sure-footed swing of acclaimed vocal jazz trio Duchess. The New York City-based threesome a?" The iconoclastic British singer Barb Jungr returns to New York for the US premiere of 'Bob, Brel and Me,' her latest live-show-and-recording project, in an exclusive two-night engagement at Joe's Pub in February. Jungr performs songs from her new album, which released in the UK in September to sterling reviews, on Friday and Saturday February 14 & 15, both at 7pm. With Mark Hartman on piano, this is Jungr's first Joe's Pub appearance since July 2018. She began appearing at the club in 2003.

Jazz singer Mark Winkler has just released a new album on singer Bobby Troup and will do a CD release party at Feinstein's Upstairs at Vitello's on August 23. In our chat, Winkler talks about his background, his love for Troup, jazz and the overall world of music.

The Grammy Museum will be hosting NOTES ON LIVING: ALL-STAR JAZZ WITH TALES BY BRIAN DOYLE May 14, 2019 as a joint benefit for WordTheatre in the Schools (WITS) and the Grammy Museum. WordTheatre's artistic director Cedering Fox will be producing and directing this evening of selected stories by award-winning author Brian Doyle, read by a star-studded cast, and accompanied by an all-star jazz band led by Starr Parodi. Cedering opened up some of her early evening time to speak to me.
