Misery written by the incomparable “Master of Horror” Stephen King was first released via Viking Press on June 8, 1987. The story revolves around the main character, romance novelist Paul Sheldon, and his self-proclaimed number-one fan Annie Wilkes. Paul is seriously injured in a car crash, and Annie being a former nurse discovers Paul and brings him home for rehabilitation. While staying in Annie’s home, Paul receives treatment and pain meds and soon discovers he is prisoner and forced to adhere to all of his captor’s demands.

Jefferson Performing Arts Society is presenting two back-to-back shows based on novels by two of the most famous writers of crime and horror:  Agatha Christie and Stephen King.

Dorset Theatre Festival has announced the 46th Main Stage Summer Season beginning June 23, 2023, including William Goldman's stage adaptation of Stephen King's Misery (June 23 - July 8); the World Premiere of Still by Lia Romeo (July 21 - August 5); Kate Hamill's Ms. Holmes and Ms. Watson - Apt. 2B (August 11 - 26); and The Thanksgiving Play by Larissa FastHorse (September 1 - 10).

The reboot has been in the works since the 2017 San Francisco Sketchfest, where Judge and Daniels reconnected with the cast and celebrated the 20th anniversary of “King of the Hill.”

The Halloween season is upon us and the folks at Kavinoky Theatre have capitalized on the eerie and sometimes gruesome story that is Stephen King's MISERY. Thanks to the blockbuster 1990 movie adaptation featuring the fascinatingly devious Kathy Bates, the story has some name recognition. Bates went on to win the Academy Award for Best Actress , allowing no one to ever be comfortable with the thought of a sledge hammer by a bedside. High marks across the board can be given to all involved in this creepy tale that opened on Friday night.

Osceola Arts will present the Central Florida premiere of William Goldman's Misery, a dramatic play based on the novel by Stephen King. Beginning Friday, October 28th this production will run only two weekends, closing on Sunday, November 6th.
