THE BOOK OF MORMON features book, music and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone. Parker and Stone are the four-time Emmy Award-winning creators of Comedy Central's landmark animated series, "South Park." Tony Award-winner Lopez is co-creator of the long-running hit musical comedy, Avenue Q. The world premiere musical is choreographed by five-time Tony Award-nominee Casey Nicholaw (Monty Python's Spamalot, The Drowsy Chaperone) and is directed by Nicholaw and Parker.

THE BOOK OF MORMON, which follows a pair of mismatched Mormon boys sent on a mission to a place that's about as far from Salt Lake City as you can get, has been nominated for 14 Tony Awards, including Best Musical; 12 Drama Desk Awards, including Best Musical; 6 Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best Musical and the Drama League Award for Best Musical. THE BOOK OF MORMON is also the recipient of the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best Musical.

I had the pleasure of seeing A Bronx Tale with my friend Cassy, who had NEVER seen a musical before! (I know, right?!) I invited Cassy because the 1993 movie, off which the musical is based, is her favorite. Seriously, her cat is named Calogero, after the lead character in both the movie and the play. I was excited to see this show, and especially excited to see it through the eyes of a neophyte theater goer. I was not disappointed!

DEAR EVAN HANSEN Breaks Box Office Record At San Francisco's Curran

The First National Tour of Dear Evan Hansen has broken the box office record for the highest-grossing week ever at San Francisco's Curran. For the week ending December 9, 2018, the production grossed $1.64 million despite only playing seven performances. This breaks the eight-performance week record previously set by The Book of Mormon in 2012. Dear Evan Hansen is playing at the Curran now through Sunday, December 30, 2018. Tonight, November 2, 2018, Broadway's THE BOOK OF MORMON will play its 3,183rd performance, at which point it will become the longest running production in the history of the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. The previous record holder was the original production of Tobacco Road, which spent most of its 3,182-performance run at the Forrest Theatre (now the O'Neill).

Deadline has exclusively reported, Tony-winning actor Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hansen), The Vampire Diaries alum Nina Dobrev, and Mena Massoud, star of Disney's live-action Aladdinfilm, have signed on to topline the drama pic Run This Town, along with Emmy winner Damian Lewis (Billions, Homeland). The film was written by Ricky Tollman, who will also direct the piece, marking his feature directorial debut.
